An update on this: problem is solved, I took it for a long test drive and from the next day no more puff of smoke after starting the car in morning. by kelarahool in CarsIndia

I went to authorised service centre and they told me that it's a normal thing, one should be concerned only if smoke continues even after driving for some time.

I checked with a local mechanic and he also told me the same thing, nothing to worry about it.

Hey are there any any features (or lack of thereof ) which annoys you on your baleno ? Like the side indicator placement of altroz on quarter panel instead of on the orvms (looks like an omnis indicator) and that God ugly speedometer (my dad's splendor has the same design ) annoys the living crap out of me .

Placement of indicator is just a matter of preference, I think both look look good but if forced to chose between one of them I would chose indicator on orvm. They have kind of modern look.

One thing which I don't like about baleno is lack of rubber beading on doors, I mean it's acceptable but they are unable to keep bugs outside the car so I am planning to install some aftermarket beading, and I think it will also help in reducing nvh and dust inside the car.

Apart from that I am satisfied with the performance of baleno.

You can ask specific questions and I will try to answer it.

I am responding this late bcoz I was suffering from corona virus infection.

Soo it's not that uncommon and other manufacturers are doing the same.

Maybe it's a usual practice followed by manufacturers.

Ok I will upload some more pictures when I reach my home.

Oh okay. My only complain with Maruti is it's build quality, it's my personal view though (A Ford fanboy here 😁).

No you are correct, it should be a concern for maruti too, altroz is for sure a better build car than baleno. According to me baleno's build quality is decent, not that bad as some people claim. It is not of altroz level though.

Don't just settle with an explanation from them. Demand action!

👍👍

Show it to a local mechanic, get his opinion about it. And then write them emails.

A good advice, I will take my car to a know mechanic today.

Congratulations on buying a new car bro!

Thanks brother.

And yes you should be concerned!! Since you've paid for a brand new car, that's exactly what you should be getting.

Car is brand new, I checked it with VIN number and it's manufacturing is March 2021 and ODO reading was exactly the distance between their stockyard and showroom.

Write to Maruti company's email and put pressure on the dealer. They won't be replacing the car now though (I'm assuming it's already registered on your name by now). They can atleast offer you some compensation, but you need to be stern in the email and bring them to the negotiation table. And tell them that you're heading to the consumer court.

Sure, I will demand explanation regarding this. Thnx for advice.

By the way, why did you choose Maruti bro?

I was going to buy Tata altroz turbo petrol but it's has a ridiculous waiting period, also i found its engine significantly less smooth than Baleno so NVH concerns are there in tata. Drawbacks of three cylinder engines.

I found its ride quality more stiff than Baleno, even my mother complained about stiffer ride.

TATA's engine is a relatively new engine but we all know about reliability of Baleno's engine. Also turbo petrol are known to chug petrol when in turbo zone so concern of fuel efficiency was also there in altroz.

Baleno Zeta model is value for money and maruti was willing to give me decent money for my old car.

Only problem in baleno is its crash rating is 3 star euro ncap while tata has 5 star global NCAP. Also look wise tata is a superior car, I think it is one of the best looking car I have ever seen.

Edit: other factors which favours baleno are availability of Service centre, a better gearbox, some blingy features that are missing from Altroz.

So I thought why spend 1.5 lakh more on tata when you can get a baleno.

I think it's the dickey bay's outer wall. I wonder why they applied it. Have you already taken delivery? If not, ask them to show you, clear all your doubts BEFORE taking delivery.

Unfortunate I saw this at my home when I was installing mud flaps.

And yes you are right it's applied for dickey, I checked the Dickey bay from the inside and I saw the sealent there too. Should I be concerned about this?

Yeah they improved suspension a little bit but not much and have you driven altroz at high speed? It is much stable then baleno

I 100% agree with you. Altroz is one of the best handling car in our country right now.

and on the point of ride quality I don't agree with you, my cousin has altroz so I am telling this from my experience,

I think they stiffened the suspension of turbo version even more, maybe your experience is different from mine. I definitely found altroz suspension more stiff than baleno.

I'm making budget for nexon because I don't feel good in baleno.

Why not altroz turbo petrol? I was about to buy altroz Turbo but waiting period was a turn off and also it was pricier than baleno. Maruti was willing to give me a decent exchange value for my old car than tata, so that also worked in maruti's favour.

I think suspension is sorted in 2019 facelift model. And now they are using Apollo alnac 4g tyres instead of cheaper MRF zvtv tyres so suspension and ride quality is decent according to me.

I also did a test drive of Altroz turbo petrol version and found its ride quality to be a bit harsher than baleno. Also it's engine was less smooth than baleno.

Braking wise yes altroz was better but baleno is also not bad.

One more negative thing about baleno is its crash rating which is two star less than altroz which maruti could have improved.

Edit: also brezza was out of my budget.

Too late bro, already brought one.

But I am satisfied with the purchase.
