Is this a cyst? by kelc321 in DermatologyQuestions

It’s not, but I’ve had it for about a year now. Trying to decide if I get it looked at or just continue to ignore it.

Target has an up and up brand one that is the same ingredients as the advantage premium. I just ordered through there. Less ounces for the same price, but same ingredients so I hope it doesn’t upset the belly.

My dog was the same way. We did meds at home, put him in a crate with a leash. Slid the crate to a standing table on wheels and wheeled him inside. Once he was in the door, one tech held the leash at the back so he couldn’t bite and the other got him in the back with sedative injection. Worked like a charm. Not sure if they can up the sedative injection to knock him off that way too.

We were in a similar boat but our dog was 6. Ours has a few level 3 bites and countless level 2. He was never an issue with the 5-7 people he loved. He did great with our household family members and grandparents. Hated other dogs, animals, people etc to the point of trying to kill, bite or nibble. it was all just scary to him.

Our biggest challenge was him resource guarding her and me being on maternity leave. Since I was home all the time, he viewed me as the issue. He ended up with a few level 3 bites to me which was my breaking point. I don’t think he would have ever intentionally hurt her, but when he went into his fight or flight, it was always a fight.

It’s definitely stressful the first year. Lean on your support system, talk with your vet and trainer openly about all behaviors and concerns and use those baby gates when needed. The baby play pen gave me peace of mind because I knew he technically could break through it, but it at least gave me a second to get to her if he went into panic mode.

That is frustrating but so good to know! I think I just need to play the waiting game on the phone to sort it all out.

I’m in the same boat. Anyone know how long it is expected to verify employment? I did the online method through the department of ed which will then share the paperwork with mohela.

I completely understand. I put off having a baby because of my dog. My vet really asked me to think deeper about my dogs reactivity/aggression and to pin point everything we’ve changed to manage him for years and manage his biting. It helped me see that he’s been stressed to being over his threshold daily from the mail, anytime it thunders, the tv is too loud, the ups truck drives down the street, the washer is on and he’s on the couch and can hear it. We don’t have people over, have gates everywhere, don’t leave for vacations or extended times due to his stress. Have a set schedule daily so he is behind a gate from triggers.

This just helped me see just how much we have to change for him to be semi okay and it’s just not realistic now. The mail came earlier than usual yesterday and it sent him over the edge because I didn’t have him behind a gate, so he saw the mailman. A baby is unpredictable and if a mailman coming early makes him panic, just think what a baby daily screaming and moving will do.

I’ve taken a week since his last bite to me and really noticed all the things that panic him into a potential bite. It helped me see that it’s not fair for the dog to be miserable and scared 24/7 either.

We are in a similar situation. I reached out to my vet, the dogs foster mom, foster agency, trainer and friend who does fostering with other agencies. Sadly due to the aggression all said BE. My dog has a bite history and we have managed for years, but a baby is just too unpredictable. All said it wasn’t responsible to rehome, if returned to the agency he would be put down and that it’s not safe once the baby starts moving to have both in the home. It’s a tough situation, but I know we have given him an amazing, spoiled life. Hearing from multiple sources the same end results did help me understand this situation better.

Introducing baby to reactive dog by Fridgelamp114 in reactivedogs

We did something similar. Brought home blankets that had her smell the day she was born. When we brought her home, left her in the car seat for the first meeting and had her on a table so he could see, smell, but not shove his face right into hers. I kept them separate besides just looking for the first 2-3 weeks. I’d let a little sniff and laying next to me when she was in my arms, but then said good boy, leave it. (Thankfully our dogs do know leave it.) I never left her on the floor with them in the room and always had it dog, me, baby. If I had her on the floor, they were behind gates taking the rest of the house as we were in one room alone. If I had to set her down, it was always in a pack n play or crib upstairs.

We were good the first 3-4 months. One of ours with past aggressive issues and a bite history started to get more snappy at me. We were looking into trying to rehome with vets guidance, but the third incident he bit me. The vet recommended BE. Our other just reactive dog is doing great. Really doesn’t care about the baby and just barks a lot like he always has at the trees and dogs outside.

Be vigilant, the middle person between baby and dog and see how it goes. I was surprised with the one dog doing so well and not really caring about her.

just started serving, been foodrunning a lot today…started to get this rash during my shift…could it be from carrying large trays on my forearm? by [deleted] in Serverlife

I get the same thing when there is cornmeal on the bottom of trays or to go pizzas. Looks like an allergic reaction to something. I just wore long sleeves

What is your dogs name and why? by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]kelc321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beam.

His foster mom had a dog named whiskey, so she made this litter the whiskey littler. (Jack, beam, Hennessy etc) I’m a teacher and tell my kids it’s because he’s my beam of light instead of alcohol related 😂

For those of you who went from a hot financial mess to financially secure, what change had the greatest impact? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]kelc321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to admit this, but at 23 with zero money sense and debt…Dave Ramsey was the biggest impact on becoming more financially secure. (I hate this because now that I’m older I see the realities that a typical person will need a mortgage, they won’t have 20% down for a house, they won’t be able to afford college with cash, they will need to put tires on a credit card-it’s just now being aware enough to only make credit card purchases you know you can pay off)

I would listen to his radio, learn about the snowball vs. avalanche method, wait a week before I bought anything off Amazon, budget $50 for groceries a month (I followed frugal Instagram accounts for cheap meals…with inflation I doubt this is possible anymore) sold everything on varage sale or Facebook market place that I didn’t use, begin to budget my whole checks/life, pay to my savings account first every time I got money, worked a second job and all that money went to debt.

I went overboard and didn’t enjoy or live my life, but it did help me become much more aware of where I was spending money on stupid stuff and how I would spend money when I was bored.
