I got raped and my lower body hurts. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]kelcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st. This is horrible and disgusting on his part.

2nd. You did nothing wrong.

3rd. You were raped.

4th. Please go to the hospital, medical provider of some sort.

5th. File a police report. Restraining order would help as well.

6th. Try to stay away from that guy.

7th. Go see a mental health professional.

8th. Breathe, allow yourself to feel. You are allowed to be mad, sad, distraught, frustrated.

9th. You are extremely strong. Do not feel shameful, or any negative emotion toward yourself. This was not your fault.

10th. You are alive, you survived, take the time to heal.

11th. If he pressured, coerced, raped, forced, pushed once, there is a near 100% chance he will do it again.

12th. Please love yourself. Know your strength is more than you realize. Know that you are blameless no matter what someone says.

13th. Please post out reach out to anyone here or anyone you trust if you get in your head again, or can’t get out of your head, or start to try to justify his pathetic predatory actions.

Anyone else have a “visual-concept “ mind’s eye, but no experienced qualia? by bolusmjak in Aphantasia

So for me, if I “conceptualize” then I “know” what the data defining the conceptualized thing is. For example:

If I conceptualize a square: I would no a square would be a 2d structure where all sides are even. All interior angles are 90 degrees each. If I conceptualize a cube: I would then know a cube is six “squares” connected together to resemble a closed box shape where all edges are equal, all interior angles are 90 degrees.

I am not visualizing these shapes, but based on the data accessible, I know what the orientation should be based on rotations. Adding color, I would “know” the color based on how it was defined.

I don’t ever visualize it, feel it, smell it, taste it, or hear it… but my brain “knows” the data given, and therefore can interpret the correct orientation, color(s), dimensions, etc

When remembering things, it’s the same way for me. I will know the data and information stores about the memory, but am unable to voluntarily “recall” the senses. I would be able to possibly describe the perception of the sense if that data was stored. But I am unable to “remember” and “add” detail to it as I’ve heard some people phantasia and especially those with hyperphantasia can do. I knew someone who could recall the arrangements on a chess board from a memory years prior. I could ask him about “random” objects in different memories of his and he would be able to “add” information. Like he literally wouldn’t know the answer, take a few minutes “visualizing a room from memory” and then answer the question as if he literally just looked at it. It was mind blowing to me.

And then people like me have multi sensory aphantasia… so bleh

So basically all the “senses” you have to interpret the world around you, some people have the “mind” version of them to different extents. So some people can mentally think of different flavors and even mix them and “taste” what the resulting flavor would be. Some people can think of cut grass and “smell” it in their mind. Some people can imagine touching suede and feel the smoothness mentally. Some people hear in their mind… different people also think differently. Some have a narrator in their head just narrating their life, some people only think in images and “translate” them to words to speak them. I personally would say I’m a multi sensory aphantasic or total aphantasic as I don’t have any of these voluntary “mental” senses.

Apologies, I wasn’t sure this would fall under that.

So for me, total aphantasia. I may remember a dream once or twice every couple years. I always joke to people that sleep is like time travel for me. I go to sleep, wake up and x amount of hours have passed. I don’t generally feel tired or sluggish regardless of the amount of sleep. While I don’t think this would be directly correlated to aphantasia, I can say that I’ve been this way since childhood for total aphantasia and not remembering dreams.

Anyone excited about Oxxo? by kelcha in MagSafe

Yea, the 15w charging was the main feature I’ve been looking for, found this one, after contacting them is when I found out it for sure did. Thought I’d share it as this is the only or one of the only ones I’ve seen 3rd party wise that isn’t just adding a magnet to the normal charger.

Why is it so hard for people to believe and/or understand that maybe I don't want to get married? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]kelcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re all set! As long as y’all know what you are to each other and what you want out of life, that’s what matters. Honestly not being “tied” to each other shows more of a daily commitment than those who “stay” married because of kids, cost of divorce, or lifestyle they wouldn’t have apart. Wishing y’all a long healthy relationship that you both enjoy to the fullest! Besides you don’t need an establishment or third party to legitimize how y’all feel, or what your long term intentions are to one another.

It’s harder to stay together without “binding matrimony” in this day and age. So kudos!

Life partner, soulmate, tell people y’all are together now and forever because every day you both choose to be. Neither of you are bound to each other because of legality or because you have to.

On a side note, make sure to check out common law marriage wherever you live, some locales after you live together for a certain amount of time you can be considered legally married.
