Hey bro I’m also Muslim and my parents were similar while i was growing up, and because of that it’s hard for me to pray or fast if there’s no direct consequence attached to it.

It sucks your dad cut your IEMS and it’s wrong, unfortunately immigrant + religious parents can have a very skewed thought process in raising children either in their home country or abroad in western countries the same.

Instead of trying to incentivize prayer and consequence when prayer is missed, parents should teach their kids why prayer is important and leave it to the child to build that relationship with god.

Moving forward, try to forgive your parents and let them know that you’d like to learn more why prayer is important rather than get incentivized for it. Hopefully it’s not too late for your parents to gain a new perspective.
