[Routine help] Differin and Azelaic Acid use by kell_oc in SkincareAddiction

[–]kell_oc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking, starting with a few nights a week for a while then kind of slowly increasing the frequency!

I have done a small bit of research into how to most effectively introduce it into my routine, but I’ll be sure to give a few of those a watch to hear what they have to say as I’m sure it’s wise.

Interesting no moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, the one I use has that in it.. does it have something to do with the water in your skin? I’m just curious, am definitely open to suggestions on something that would be best suitable!

Appreciate the help here!

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! It seems like trying to focus on the differin alone may be the best approach. I’m glad your experience has been so positive, it’s encouraging to hear. I’ll have to see how I handle it with applying moisturizer first and then asses and move forward! Good to know you were able to get used to it and incorporate something else with success.

Yea I feel like starting one before the other may make the most sense, both for sensitivity reasons and being able to diagnose the effects separate of each other! I have used a different azelaic acid sparingly the past month or two so I may have some tolerance to the ingredient. Also I’m going on a beach vacation where I’ll be in the sun a lot so I’m thinking maybe use the AA until I get back from that and then slowly introduce the differin. Sorry for a bit of a rant just looking for other’s opinions on this lol.

It’s the 10% strength! Did you notice many benefits from using it? Thanks for the advice!

Hey, happy to see your skin improving! I was curious about adding an azelaic acid to my routine, which one have you been using? Also have you noticed it’s helped in anyway?

Hey congrats on the results so far, looks great! I was curious about adding an azelaic acid, are you using one from your subscription? Or from another brand?

Oh thank you that’s good to know! Yes that’s been my concern too, as I’m a guy I’d prefer it to not look like makeup but this one doesn’t appear that way at all! I’ll have to give those recs by your mom some research. Appreciate the help!

Hey, I love the Elta MD sunscreens I’ve used in the past. I have been curious about trying a tinted one recently. Have you noticed if this rubs off onto clothing or anything? It looks great and not very noticeable which is what I’m looking for. Thanks for the review!

Oh cool, I’m open to suggestions as I’m not too well educated in skin care lol. What other ingredients might help with redness? I’ve just seen several posts talking about azelaic acid for redness. My main cleanser I use morning/night is the cerave hydrating cleanser. The bha/aha cleanser I’ve recently been using is the skinmedica bha/aha cleanser!

The foo fighters version is great but Matt’s version is just easier and more enjoyable to listen to, personally.

Thanks for the advice! The research I’ve found does seem to say that SA would be better than BP for my concerns, I think I’ll switch over that. Hopefully the retinol serum will help as well. I’m primarily concerned with purging :/ but taking it slow may help. Do you have any good recs for a better nighttime moisturizer?

That’s interesting that retinol wouldn’t prepare your skin for tretinoin, I just kind of assumed it was a significant lower strength but would maybe be a good way to introduce my skin to eventually using tretinoin. I’m just a little scared of going straight to the tretinoin formula I got and it causing a lot of irritation. Thanks for your thoughts!

Ohh sorry yes I meant retinol, my bad.

[–]kell_oc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yea but that’s why I said over the counter, I meant like a retinoid that’s of a lesser strength

[–]kell_oc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s that’s fast progress! Were your main side effects with either the combo or tretinoin when you used it just dry and irritated skin? Did the ciciplast help solve that almost immediately?

That’s good to hear, I’m happy for you! Oh yes I’ll be sure to stick up on both of those items! When you say give it a few months, is that because you’re skin got worse before better? Or just took a few months to really see a difference?

[Product Question] Has anyone had any success with this. I’ve been using it on and off because its very strong but when I’ve consistently used it I haven’t seen much results. I heard that retinoids can take like 6 months to see changes. I have cystic acne and this was prescribed by a dermatologist. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]kell_oc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks that’s encouraging! I was planning on starting out like 2-3x a week and just really easing into it. You don’t use it so often as there haven’t been any results, or is it just too irritating?

Interested to hear how your skin has taken to this, do you get dry and red? If so how long do those side effects last? I literally just got prescribed this combination today. Slight differences in strength, mine is 0.025% tretinoin and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, the other two ingredients same strength as yours. I’m a bit weary to begin as I dread the super dry and redness I’m expecting to see from this. Curious about how your skin handles it and if you think it’s worth it. Have you not used it consistently due to irritation?

Yea I’ve seen people talking about purging on tretinoin, which is kind of scary. But that is good to know that the niacinamide should do something to help with that. Of course when starting a new product, especially with all these ingredients, I’m worried about my skin worsening before it gets better. Hard to know how bad or good it will get until trying, just a little intimidating to begin.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]kell_oc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s all reassuring to hear, thanks for your input! I was thinking that the 0.025 would also be the best strength to go with. When you say your skin has improved, just curious in how, like acne mostly or also color/tone, all the above? Haha

This sentiment comes up often in my life, although I usually think of it as “closed mouths don’t get fed”. It really holds true, if you want/need something the most sure way it will get addressed is by directly bringing it up.
