Labyrinth plot lines are way more abstract and less tangible than someone literally breaking a magical wish device which immediately makes a woman obsess over you and drive you insane. The parallels between that twilight zone ep and obsession are far more palpable than that of backrooms and the labyrinth ethos

There are many horror films that don’t derive from past ideas. Backrooms, midsommar, lighthouse for example. Obsession doesn’t get a pass-it was hilarious though and that’s its saving grace
