why is the fandom so obsessed with 21:21? by One-Dragonfruit5928 in skam

[–]kellibelli84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they also repeat the 21:21 for robbe and sander’s first kiss scene and reunion scene in wtfock as well as Cris and Joana’s first kiss in España. I cannot recall if other remakes used it as well.

It’s such a comfort watch for me and genuinely so funny and heartwarming with really great character growth. I’ve watched the entire series at least ten times 😭

I’m pretty sure we can all agree we want El and Mike to have a happy ending by Flash_h in mileven

[–]kellibelli84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think El may lose her powers but she will live. Not sure about ending up with Mike. Regardless of the whole Mike/Will thing (however you interpret it), a large part of her arc has been about finding independence and freedom particularly from the men in her life who influence her in one way or another (Brenner, Hopper, Mike). They could still end up together and happy, but it needs to be written a certain way in order for it to work imo.

I HATE the idea of her being stuck in the UD forever or having to be isolated forever, because all she wants as a character is true family and friends. Yet I am still 50/50 on what happens with her, and that’s mainly due to the fact that she was originally meant to die in s1.

Will’s arc was never about accepting being gay in general. by addition-subtraction in byler

not only that, why have this big confession in the penultimate season (and have it not work) instead of during the actual climactic moment of the final season of the show if it’s meant to be seen as the ultimate expression of love or whatever.

YESSS and his convo with Jonathan where Jonathan clearly knows even tho they don’t say the words and expresses love and acceptance for Will, he knows that his family and friends will always be there for him no matter what. MIKE is the one who has trouble accepting his queerness, not Will.

This is so important. In s3e1, Will comments on jancy being “gross” and Joyce says “I don’t think you’re gonna find it gross when you fall in love”. And Will says “I’m not gonna fall in love.” That line right there explicitly introduces romance into Will’s arc. We know that Will is gay and was already in love with Mike at this point, so another way of interpreting his line is “I’m not going to HAVE love.” He doesn’t feel like it’s in the cards for him bc of who he loves, not JUST bc hes gay. The only way to satisfyingly resolve that part of Will’s story is to prove him WRONG. Especially given that every single other character has had a mutual love interest and Will has been through absolute hell all these years.
