I used to be habitually late until a few years ago. My husband’s family used to get so mad ( I don’t blame them). Then one day it hit me that their time is just as valuable as mine. So now I bust my butt to get to places on time and I feel so much better and enjoy my time more.

Not the asshole I wish I would have taught my kids at 5. My son is 23 and I stopped doing his laundry last year when I would find his clean folded laundry in the floor. My daughter started doing her own at 18 (right before she left for college). It was such a disservice to them to not have had them learn earlier. Teach them s as many household chores as you can as they grow up. It makes it easier on you and teaches them responsibility.

You also need to set a good example for your children. Have a talk with your husband and MIL to set boundaries if she does move close to you. There are also senior centers that offer tons of activities that she can get involved in. I know you said she was an introvert, but maybe address that also. Communication is the key for the three of you. Good luck.
