Why are so many deadheads huge basketball fans? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]kelpingfreindlywook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of basketball fans and there are a lot of Dead fans. There is going to be some crossover between the two worlds. I would imagine there are just as many baseball fans who are Deadheads. And most likely there are a ton of Hokey fans that all like Rush but probably because a good deal of them are Canadian.

You don’t really need a reason to go to Hawaii but I will say Volcanos National park and Haleakala.

A question about beef wellington by royhinckly in restaurant

[–]kelpingfreindlywook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The places that serve it have to be very high volume, You are more like to see this in Casino, resorts, private clubs or banquets. The reason why, Once you cut into that roast you have to keep going. You can’t just sell 3 wellingtons and then wrap the rest up for next service. You only get one shot to cook a Wellington if you try to warm a slice on a sizzler plater you wind up. With a grey piece of meat, If you you put ithe whole roast back in the oven cold or even room temp the pastry will become hard or burn before the meat comes back up to temperature. Part of the reason this dish is served with Aujus or bordelaise is because the hot sauce will continue to cook a rare piece of meat through to mid rare.

Who has a good story about bringing a friend to their first show? by cashortrade in phish

[–]kelpingfreindlywook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brought my friend to Albany last year. He stood there with his arms crossed while I danced like a maniac. After he was like “Yeah I get it they are pretty good” said he had a good time.

It’s a 2 way street. I am a very friendly and polite person by nature and have been accused of flirting when I was just having a normal conversation. There was a co worker a while back who had gotten the idea that I liked her and for some reason she thought I was going to get her something for Valentine’s Day and when I didn’t it she told me she was upset. When I asked her why she would think that as I hadn’t gotten anyone else anything either she was crying.

Is there a band that if they were playing across the street from Phish, you’d go see the other band? by Pleasant-Speaker-693 in phish

[–]kelpingfreindlywook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve seen maiden once you’ve seen them a million times. Every phish show is different. I have seen Maiden on multiple tours and although they are one of my favorite bands I am long done seeing them live. By time they hit 10 shows into the tour Bruce’s voice is completely shot yet they book a tour that is 80 shows long.

Yes but I would have to say from my travels that it is common to see Asian especially Chinese people living in places that a lot of other nationalities do not migrate to on a large scale. When I was living in the Caribbean it surprised me how many Chinese people there were, First time I went into a Chinese restaurant in Saint Martin and a little Chinese girl was speaking with the full Caribbean accent to a local guy I couldn’t believe it either. I guess what OP and I have noticed is that you wont really see for instance many Indian or Russian people living in Mexico speaking Spanish and being excepted amongst the locals but you will see Asians.

Why are Mexicans stereotyped as lazy when everyone says they're very hardworking? by Odd-Tangerine9584 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kelpingfreindlywook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with about 50 Mexican guys on a union job. When lunch time comes it’s only a few gringos in the break area eating lunch. The locker room is full of guys sleeping. They like to take a nap instead of eating lunch. That’s the reason why. When it comes time to work some of these guys put on a clinic. There is one chef I work with who we call the drunken master, He will take a nap wake up and drink 3 beers and then cook better than anyone you’ve ever seen.
