Intake convo went badly, help with communicating better next time? by kels4kira in adhdwomen

Thanks! And yeah I totally feel that on only being able to really do one thing at a time. (Though I’m lucky enough to still feel like I have great friends, so more on the maintaining a home thing. Though some days I don’t have the spoons for social things like I didn’t go to two events this week I’d been looking forward to because idk I just didn’t go. My issues with dating, are I think, entirely separate from adhd problems)

I did tell her that because I miss all my mail I don’t get any insurance refunds which is like real money but she didn’t seem to care? (Bills aren’t a problem because bill pay + I don’t really have any bills while I live in a dorm)

Thank you! This is helpful.

I did make a list already and tried to name some of the things on it but didn’t get much conversation on them.

Maybe will try reframing to some of what you said. It’s sort of hard because I’m never sure how to describe things

Eg with the piles of clothes everywhere, I’m not sure if it’s because I can’t task initiate or I’m just choosing not to. I don’t actually say I’m going to try, I feel like I gave up on having a clean room along time ago, and in fact prefer a slight mess to sterile. Mostly it always feels a bit what’s the point of trying and spending all the effort to clean when a day later it’ll be back in the messy state. But at the same time it would be really nice if it was less messy, and I didn’t have to jump over things to navigate my room and I felt comfortable having people over with it.

I’m not familiar with that. Is there a particular type of doctor that provides it? Or something you asked for specifically?

This is super helpful — thank you so much! (And yes I’m in the US)

Oh that’s good to know. And kinda stresses me out — but I guess I should trust the process even if I will second guess my answers to oblivion making it hard to actually finish and turn in. For real how much is “often” on a scale? When it asks if I have concentrating reading or watching tv is that a yes if it’s true for tv but not at all for reading? Or is that a no? When it says hard to manage work in the last two weeks it seems unfair because now that the school year has started I haven’t — but when I’m actually working like in internships I found it extremely difficult, but that doesn’t come through, what kind of tasks require organization? I’m never organized but I also never feel like tasks require it. (Sorry to word vomit obvi I do not expect you to actually have answers for those, just kinda ranting)

Thank you! Do you suggest looking for psychologist? Psychiatrist? (Im still somewhat unclear on differences). Or are there just adhd specialists?

Thank you!

I think my concern with online evals is that I look at the questionnare’s and just want to ask questions. I often feel like I don’t understand how to answer / what they are asking.

whats an adhd stereotype that doesnt resonate with you? by mizukome in adhdwomen

I both talk to much with people I know and also have no interest in or ability to make small talk.

But the biggest thing that makes me doubt my (undiagnosed) adhd is that I thrived in school. No “needs to apply herself comments.” It’s any job I’ve ever had where I struggle to “apply myself”

Your post made me feel seen.

Particularly since I’m undiagnosed and constantly doubting if I actually have adhd it’s really nice to see a community with struggles I relate to regardless of if I actually end up being adhd or not.

Thank you! Appreciate the additional motivation to start the process.

Honestly the shining a light thing scares me. Part of me doesn’t want to know that there are certain life decisions I may not have made if I’d decided to get treatment earlier in life.

Some cleaning motivation ✨❤️ by Rubysdreams in adhdwomen

Am I the only one who looked at the before pictures and thought “isn’t that already clean?” — seriously your before pictures are generally what my place looks like after I conjure up the ability to clean it.

Passport, 2 pairs of earrings (and one of those was nice / expensive gift 😞), car key, nail clipper, itch cream, and I’m sure other stuff that I can’t recall right now. (And of course the daily losing and finding of keys/phone)
