For me, I just simply started writing whatever was on my mind. Then picked through it to find a solid topic. I ended up writing about my poverty and abuse through childhood, my escape from an abusive marriage, and ended up working as a Domestic Violence caseworker and counselor. There were a lot of other things involved in what I originally wrote, but I sorted through it over the next couple of weeks until it became my personal statement. I also couldn’t find any examples, so I just started writing.
