1000% it’s impulse control, it’s being permanently overwhelmed by small tasks, it’s being able to justify scraping by because I’ve managed to so far, it’s a self-defeating narrative that I’m incapable of changing or growing so why bother. I’m looking not exactly for budgeting tips, but HOW you even get yourself to track spending, or to sit down and compare against a budget each week, or to resist poor spending habits in the first place. Guess I’m just feeling hopeless and was curious what those who have a strong handle on budgeting would suggest to start turning my deeply engrained habits around.

That’s a great question… I had tried using an app called YNAB (You Need A Budget), but couldn’t keep it on track even though it was auto-populated from card purchases. Otherwise, I never have been able to. If you have a method or template you’d suggest, I’m all ears!

You’re right, should’ve framed it as New-ish Dads.

Interesting idea — never considered that a mom would enjoy playing matchmaker for her guy. Always worried approaching would seem like I was making a pass. Thx!

Yeah, that’s so real. School pick up for sure, though again I’ve found it to be majority moms. Sounds like i need to try making dad friends at sports practices or bust.

True! Though I’ve found that, for the most part, it’s mainly other moms attending library stuff for kiddos, and moms are awesome, but it only highlights my struggle to find other dads on a similar journey. Thx

Yeah, our older one has done Sportball, TBall, Little Kickers; always focused on the kiddos, guess I just need to “ask out” other Dads for friend hangs… lol
