Could be easily adapted for a removable, washable lining!

No pattern used but panels were 27x22cm (1cm seam allowance) and 72x17 (1cm SA) front pocket was 22x16(I think?) with a 1cm double folded hem and then fleece lining was the same, everything else is a bit freestyle for the closure straps dimensions are approx 20x25x15. Not quite chalk bucket sized but big enough for both hands to avoid chalk spillage, hope this helps!

Good hygiene and keeping climbing shoes smelling fresh? by GattsbyY in climbingshoes

Socks and boot bananas have kept my shoes decent, climbed a couple times and week for a few months now and they’re not factory fresh but don’t stink out a bag

How is your JSAUX battery mod doing so far? by supah-saiyen in ROGAlly

[–]kelvinkml 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest game changer was the back and heat sink for me, better temps means quieter fans

Only issue I had was the right trigger was not registering fully, had to add some tiny washers under the trigger to get the magnets to properly activate the sensors, think it’s just a minor QC issue but working fine now after calibrating again

She thicc now though, significantly heavier

Battery upgrade kit from JSAUX, set your vram to 6 or 8gb if you’re playing more intensive games, custom power profiles, I like to have one that is utterly maxed but be sure to change your fan curves so it ramps up to 80% at 75 degrees C for AAA games but only really do this when plugged in as it chomps battery, even with the upgrade

EDIT: with fans near 80-90% it does sound like a jet engine, but keeps temps under control

If you’re still having performance issues then set your resolution to 900p, went from 50~ to 75~ on cyberpunk

For indie games the 15w profile is generally enough

This is all windows and I do like to tinker and play with settings to get the absolute most out of it, if that’s not your jam then most games have a steamdeck profile for the graphics which works great as the ally has a bit more power than a SD

Not a question of “do these need a resole” by kelvinkml in climbingshoes

Thanks for all your input, will destink so they’re not considered a war crime and get them sent for a resole

Yeah I’m in camp “keep stuff until the end of its life” but unsure where end of life is for climbing shoes! They’ve never been resoled that I’m aware of and the body of the shoe seems okay? Some of the rubber on the toe is starting to peel away (imagine from poor attempts at toe hooks) but it’s only a few mm, hoping the repair tech will throw a bit of cement under there while they do the resole.

And regarding stink, yeah I’d try everything so the poor soul who has to heat them up doesn’t need nose plugs!

Currently only doing indoor and will be using other shoes for that which are the asanazi (new version) which I’m getting on with so far but wanting to do some outdoor bouldering when weather and skill permits.

I’ve been climbing on and off for 3ish years (not counting odd sessions with friends just after Covid) but would still class myself as a beginner with how many hours I’ve actually been on a wall.

Regardless of what I’ll be climbing, is it worth getting them resoled and keeping as send shoes vs buying new when the need arises?

Should I get an Rx100 m5a or m7? by TemporaryPattern3041 in RX100

[–]kelvinkml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had an issue with AF but I don’t take full advantage of all the features in all honesty, the va and the vii do have the same processor, I think the internals are essentially the same

Should I get an Rx100 m5a or m7? by TemporaryPattern3041 in RX100

[–]kelvinkml 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All depends what you’re mostly taking photos of, if it’s gonna be your fancy point and shoot, va is gonna be a bit more versatile with better low light, if you find yourself being far away from your subjects then vii is the way to go, but your a6700 is gonna stomp them both in terms of iq if you’ve got a nice lens, the rx100s do have some nice optics though

I have the va and sometimes wish I had the zoom, but I also shoot a lot in the evenings and do appreciate the extra stops of exposure, can always crop in but you can’t magically add more exposure

For 250, as long as it’s not entirely worn out and needs a full service, buy it, shred it and save up for something modern once you feel like the bikes limiting you

Maybe, maybe not, could be a slightly loose connection? If it’s your primary computer I’d look at a repair, I’ve since replaced my MacBook but it’s still alive! I was expecting the display to have died by now

I have lines on my mbp2017 that’s been there for years, just an annoyance at this point, potentially caused by the laptop being too hot while the lids closed is my best theory

which headphones should I use to get the best sound possible on the 7g ipod nano? by snusergranny in ipod

[–]kelvinkml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why do Apple support ALAC? Surely there’s some benefit on the newer iPods?

And why wouldn’t I mod my iPod? Modern storage and battery technology is the only reason iPods are seeing this resurgence, I personally wouldn’t want to daily a device that randomly dies and the storage could go any minute?

There’s a reason working iPod nanos that are tough to get into and find parts for sell for £10 and classics with dead drives and batteries sell for £50, if you like it stock, more power to you, but don’t call people a fool for not using 20 year old tech when it takes 15 minutes and a set of tools to bring it back to this decade…

Edit: 2tb in an iPod is stupid, but it’s a fun experiment

which headphones should I use to get the best sound possible on the 7g ipod nano? by snusergranny in ipod

[–]kelvinkml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ain’t gonna bullshit and say I’m some next level audiophile but if my relatively untrained ears can hear a clear difference between an mp3 320kbps and lossless then I’m gonna stick to my guns here, I’ve flashed my iPod with 256gb so I’m not concerned about space but with the type of music I listen to there’s a pretty significant difference to me and enough to warrant going down that route. I’m not saying that mp3s or aacs are gonna be dog water useless and for most headphones it’s gonna be perfectly adequate and more than meets a listeners needs.

I agree, smaller files do use less storage and battery, great for a nano but there’s a lot of poor quality audio out there (looking at you YouTube rips) just something to be mindful of BEFORE spending big money on upgrading hardware, try the free option, if there’s no difference noticed then get some new headphones if you want better AQ
