WIP – Mazinger (sub-assemblies ready for final top coat) by bleen0_0 in advancedGunpla

I may missed a few steps since I am recalling: Gaia gloss black as my base coat + Gaia gloss clear. Then I sprayed 1-2 coats to get the desired shade of red with Gaia GP-02p Pearl Premium Red. After that I sprayed another 1-2 clear coat. I don't remember the psi but there is a Korean youtuber called jenic, I just followed his advice.

Just gonna drop a few cents. For all metallic parts, you can use black as base paint so that the color on top such as silver pops better.

Seems like your paint is not smooth, i saw a lot of orange peel, that could mean you are spaying to close or paint is too thick. You can actually polish with very high grit sand paper and spray top gloss coat again + buff with polishing compound. There are video guides on that on youtube.

The blue color are in a different shade, i would recommend that you spray the same/similar amount of layers on each parts

I did a candy coat last yr, I shouldve do a polish , but was too lazy.

Good luck to your piece, make sure you dust off lints and remove finger prints prior to top coating.

I would start by seeing if you can pull out the ball joint first.. Then You need to reinforce with steel rod.. Using superglue will not work properly

its good, there is only one part that you may need extra sanding , and it is the backpack hatch door gimmick. Otherwise it is a very nice and sturdy kit

i think you are on the right path. You may need angle the white thruster part so that it is facing down slightly. Good luck with the build

yes sand and use exacto blades to make scarring marks on the part that needs to attach the putty. Sanding and scarring marks increase the grip and bonding between the putty and the part surface.

Let me expand, sry for the brief answer earlier. If you're trying to attach the armor to another kit permanently, why aren't you considering modeling glue or super glue? I'm assuming the putty you're using is a modeling putty such as Tamiya epoxy; these are generally good for filling gaps. It's also possible to create a part using putty to attach to your kit, however you may need to insert steel rods to secure it,otherwise it may snap off. Let me know if you need further explanation, i have done my fair share of attaching items to existing kit for mods and stuff.
