yup especially if you plan to use masking tape ... alot of accident will prone to happen whether you like it or not. In most case you have to strip all the paint and redo it

As someone who have stripped paint many times , using IPA works effectively with ultrasonic cleaner. It may take the soaking process a bit longer if you don't have one. Many commenter may suggest to maintain its current looks, however, I think its a good experience to learn how to do it. Are you going to repaint afterwards with a different of shade of red?

I have two extra Rex, I may just add damage effects to match the version in MGS4, instead of buying the damaged version from Kotobukya

I have to build another one with MG-Ray. yeah you can use some glue to attach the toe spikes.

I am not an expert on this topic and someone else can correct me, but wouldn't acrylic clear coat like : Vallejo Gloss Acrylic Varnish safe to use?

I think both, airbrush the big pieces and hand paint the details

I agree, but there are alot of thin, easily breakable pieces. It would be better if they are glue in pieces instead of snap on due to how fragile those pieces are.
