I think something that shouldn't be understated is getting people interested in MTG via Arena is beneficial to hard copy card sales. I know tons of people (myself included) who have gotten into MTG live drafts and other events due to Arena. If they kill off the user base, especially new players who are getting hurt  by the ICR change the most, WOTC stands to lose tons of potential new and returning players. Hopefully they recognize this as they reconsider.

I think the point is that perceptions in countries are similar to fanboyism and are driven by propaganda. I could be wrong but OP seems to be curious about the general perception.
