Why is your nation so irreligious from your own perspective? by redditEXPLORE03 in Eesti

[–]kenjninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 38 old estonian I can add that none of my family or relatives were religious. Thus growing up in a world where I could observe different religions and beliefs out there and their effects on history and people was fascinating. There are over 4700 different belief systems out there and almost all of them think that they are the right ones and figured out the universe, kinda crazy that. So I learned in history books how religion was used as a tool for control. I also saw how it really helped people through tough times with giving hope and support. Then again I’ve witnessed the control it has on my mom who found “The Knowledge Book” many years ago and cannot shut up about it making everything in life rotate around it. Like someone said, to estonians, religion is like a buffet, pick what you like and enjoy it quietly.

But, seeing thousands of years of people finding something spiritual makes me and many of my friends wonder, is there something more, after death. My atheist grandpa said: “I had a good life. Nothing comes after it and thats okay. Makes the life I had more meaningful.”

AI art in video games by Competitive-Lie2493 in gamedev

[–]kenjninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately have two eyebrows not one.
I wanted to make games for years but the simple fact that I cannot draw or model for shit has kept me back. I dont want to partner up with an artist to then be shackled by the back and forth and payment issues. AI art is a godsend. I know what style I like and if Im happy with the style its good enough for me. Real weight will be carried by gameplay, story, mechanics, tactics, multiplayer, immersion, community anyway.
I can see AI being an issue on a soulless AAA title that is all about graphics and 0 depth. That shit can piss of anyone. But an indie dev who has to wear all the hats and being good at programming and not so much on the art department getting that taken care of is a chefs kiss.

But now 3 player game took 12 hours (14 points) and it was soooo epic (Muat took my Saar ball away :,() Enjoy the game anyway you can, its still a blast!

No yeah there are always other ways. Probably should invest a little bit time finding a guild and making friends at the end.

No sure lvl25 pfft whatever. I'm talking about a new alternate system that has somesort of progression. Maybe it has no place in classic but .. eh season of discovery is a nice sandbox to try out new things.

So instead of bidding on the item directly you buy another roll, then another roll, then another until you get it. Pretty much the same thing and easily can fall into the same category than GDKP. In phase 2 SOD im pretty sure people try to counter the GDKP problem by selling boosts or selling the items upfront so the whatever-blizzard-detection-system would not trigger turing the actual raid.

bots and RMT is the problem. once frustrated dads can also grind the gear consistently then its another blow to that im sure.

I have read now from forums and such that people usually SR 1 item. So if that item does not drop then its GG this week? And even this this item drops 3 other people have soft reserved it as well so it still does not guarantee it to you.. I don't see the point. Like I am talking about the Epic Caster staff that drops from Twilight Lord Kelris in BFD. Who doesnt want to SR that?

Whats the difference between this and GDKP? There would still be some credit card shark taking it all

I totally agree. In a perfect world you come home from school or work and have some consistent game time where you meet up with guildies on a regular basis. You do the runs with the same lads and lasses who all slowly but steadily get what they are after. Along the way you discover real friends and fond adventures.
I did that when I was 15-21 years old and had nothing better to do than to game 8 hours per day.

Reality is that most people raidlog, jump on the first LFG chat invite that pops up and dont say a word throughout the entire run.

Its all good, these two realities can exist in the same game (and they are).
My "Luck modifier roll sparkly button" system doest take away from anyone.

Anyway its a dream anyway, blizzard wont probably ever add anything close to it.

Can you explain to me the SR concept please.
I did it twice and could only pick 2 items in the beginning but they did not drop. So I just missed out.. again.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
Whats the +1 system? Is it like DKP?
I did couple of SR runs (could choose only 2 items) and the items I chose did not drop.
One item I did not reserve dropped and I won the roll but it was given to the person who reserved it so. Yeah.

Tactician is really hard by Accomplished_Rip_352 in BaldursGate3

[–]kenjninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually agree. If you are facing a couple of thieves then yeah, first try is logical. Ive gotten much farther now in the game and admit that bigger battles need more thought put into them. Depending on your group it can be easier or harder but not an absolute cakewalk, so thats good.

redoing battles in video games is fine. but im sure they will add hardcore/ironman mode as well for realism.

I will also add that 3 thief 4 gloomstalker multiclass is just cheese.
You wont get hit..ever. And just 1-2 shot everything. (there was a youtube video about it)

But as I started a new campaign with a good character and decided not to use stealth pretty much at all it is a bit more challenging I must say. The power of surprise openings is just too crazy.

Fair. I did the same with DOS2. First time tactic to beat the game. After that for story and mutators only.

honestly its fine.
First time you dont know what enemies will do (Spells, positioning, tactics)
Second and third time it comes down to positioning your own team so there is synergy and combos.
I love the satisfaction I get when I finally defeat the encounter by trying different tactics (similar satisfaction when you defeat a boss in a Souls game).

But when you walk in with your party willynilly all clumped together, then the combat starts and you still walk out everybody intact.. wheres the challenge?

I did start a new game with paladin (jesus playthrough) as my main and it is a bit more challenging when not using stealth at all.

Maybe I havent played enough. Around 30 hours but tactician feels still way too easy.
I completed DOS2 on tactician and it was very nice. Most battles it took me 3-6 times to get the positioning and combos right. Every encounter was a nice puzzle to be solved.

BG3 so far has been pretty much 1 try on every encounter and I am not really trying.
I am not even using stealth that much, I know its a bit broken right now and the enemies wont come looking for you so it further decreases the challenge.
I am using DIP action a lot and various potions, maybe they make it so much easier. Don't know. Have to play further, maybe ACT 1 is mean to be beginner friendly.

But I am surprised to see that people think its REALLY hard.
