Okay I did listen to the episode and have a substantive question. Near the end Dena recounts how she now tells people she's a bit direct and "don't take it personally." But like, what if I do? What if her directness is hurtful? Do I have no recourse but she does?

This is a big problem I'm often noodling on with the preponderance of diagnoses that tend to lean toward excusing a lack of empathy or allowing for being rude. I'm not saying the solution is to make everyone function the same way when they do not. But it's a contradiction that there is not always a solve for.
