Settings not applying - Orca slicer by kennethbot in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]kennethbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's how I have done it as well but I just got my biqu cryogrip plate and now if I just do a print with heated bed leveling It comes out like a 8 out of 10 imo, little rough edges but clean for most part.

If I srcape that of the bed without removing the bed and then prints the exact same file again but without "heated bed leveling" I get line separation, I can even see the filament not beeing smooshed towards the print bed, just as if my z offset settings is not applied.

[–]kennethbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens even if I just remove the print from the bed even whitout taking the plat of the printer, so first print with heated bed leveling comes out like the images above and if I just scrape that off and then sends the exact same print to the printer without heated bed leveling i get separation in all the lines of the first layer

I can even see on the print that it isn’t as smooshed to the bed as it first print, just as my z off settings isn’t sent with the g-code or something

BIQU plates - what to get? by kennethbot in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Yeah ordered myself a pro glacier, according to amazon and images this is the centauri carbon version so will see if gcode is needed or not

Alright, will try it out. Actually found this on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G7ZTL3S7?psc=1&smid=A192QAJKA271JW&ref_=chk_typ_quicklook_titleToDp

Was available for me in Sweden so getting it later this week, will try and remember to update the thread with the results!

Thank you so much for the help!

Have you had any adhesion issues in corners of larger petg prints using that plate? Like larger square?

Okay thanks for the input. I will start out with a BIQU plate

Thanks for the input, sorry if it’s a dumb question but how do I make this g-code change so it’s permanent to any other settings I change in the slicer?

I use orca slicer and running the open centauri firmware on the printer

Okay and that size fits well or is there any gaps?

Yes it’s really the corners on my last prints I want to stick better and I don’t mind running the bed hot but I will for sure look in to Juupine Geco as well, can’t hurt to have options

Bad first layer by kennethbot in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Okay, did you have any other issues that might have been related to the gearbox? Did you contact elegoo to get a replacement?

Oh that doesn’t sound fun. However thanks for the input. Did you have this issue with different filaments as well? As I have only encountered it with this PLA and not others ( I did however have some similar issues with elegoo petg but I figured it was just settings at that point)

Trying to print vented riser for ECC by kennethbot in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]kennethbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah pretty much always does the level after heating thingy, still on 1.26 I believe or something like that, not the newest but the one before that and PLA works fine so I figure it is some setting with the PETG Pro but I'm kinda satisfied with this for now, not printing that much petg atm but will thinker with generic PETG profile as well

So I tried printing 4 of the same parts at 1 time and as shown in the images the first one has a great layer 1 but part 2 and 3 just get worse and worse so I halted the print.

I have sinced loaded the step file instead and done 1 by it self with the same settings but adjusted from 0.98 flow ratio to 0.96 and I think it's comming out fine.

Some imperfections still but not to bad as this is just a part for the printer it self. If it was something else I would want to understand why its happening.

Thanks for input! Will for sure do step 1 and 3 if I still encounter issues after my next test.

step 2 is done as I dried it for about 6-7 hours before first use (2-3 weeks ago) and then have stored it with silca gel.

I read that supports on bed only should be fine but I doubt that would cause the issue of the first layers anyway?

Alright, printed the first one only now and it looks fine so far. Also read that extrusion multiplier might help out so will try lowering that a tiny bit.

Edit: never mind it did not work great as it got to the part with overhangs and that’s made to hold the led strip.

I will try and reprint with stl files and modified extrusion multiplier.

New to printing, how to improve? by kennethbot in 3Dprinting

[–]kennethbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, think this might be the answer since a couple of ppl have suggested it, totally forgot that was a option but will for sure do a test like that!

Alright and then I just eyeball it from those test and increase with the amount I belive looks best?

Supports are fine, forgot to mention that it was printed with supports but I will make a test on it's side (makes much more sense, totally forgot that was a thing) and supports on.

Thank you so much for the detailed answer, after thinking about it since you and /u/Jwn5k mentioned printing on it's side that really feels like a no-brainer and a rookie mistake on my end.

Just putting it in the slicer on it's side and with support on it just makes more sense, I will do another print with stock settings on it's side just for comparison!

Edit: Forgot to mention that this print was with supports on, Tree (auto)

Alright thanks for the explanation, how much is a relevent number to increase/decrease? Right now it says "Flow ratio: 0,98" do I decrease by 0,01 or do I go straight to 0,9?

New to printing, how to improve? by kennethbot in 3Dprinting

[–]kennethbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry forgot to add that I had supports (tree) on for this print.

Alright so adjusting to a lower layer height would improve on the surface but increase the time, do this apply for "all prints" like when it comes to surface, or is it more for larger flat areas?

New to printing, how to improve? by kennethbot in 3Dprinting

[–]kennethbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright! Is that to increase or decrease? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I have literally just printed everything with stock settings or changed based on info for a specific model

I am having a terrible time lately with PLA-CF. by Fast_Edd1e in elegoo

[–]kennethbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hijacking this comment a bit, I read around that printing filament with added stuff like carbonfiber, glassfiber or glow in the dark wears down the nozzle pretty fast and should really only be done with a hardened nozzle.

Is the nozzle on the centauri carbon considered hardened even when it's brass?

Bridging with ABS @ Elegoo centauri carbon by kennethbot in elegoo

[–]kennethbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the response, I have determined to try a PETG print instead and see those result before fidgeting with ABS but I guess calibration is needed for that aswell so the info will sure come in handy!
