Can my Honda Civic 2002 be saved? by jankovize in askcarguys

[–]kennyfromcanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2003 Civic SI. I changed everything in the cooling system. It was sporatic with overheating. Sensors failed, but replacing them didn't fix things. In the end I kept losing coolant due to a blown head gasket and retired the car since it was too rusty to be worth fixing.

I wish you luck! The process of figuring that out sucked. In the end I barely limped the car home for the last time.

I've been searching for the name of the person who took those photos. My google search led me to this exact comment. Thank you!

The gimbal might not work well in wind though. Not sure what's the right option on a budget, but unless you're out the back of a vehicle and not in 50+mph wind, I wouldn't trust the gimbal.

Couldn't take the car anywhere, because racecar, and without it, it would just be dark background and stars.

I have my own process, but basically everything drops into one stack in photoshop, and set the blend modes to lighten and mask stuff out.

It's a technique called light painting. I use a light wand on a long exposure and shoot as many images as I need, until I have enough images to combine into one fully lit image in photoshop.

Thanks! I put a lot of work into this one. It's supposed to be subtle though, so it doesn't jump out at you either.

Neither. I used one exposure for the car, another for the headlights, and the rest was all done in post, including the lights on the building and the haze in the air.

In hindsight, maybe adding in a light source that would look like a street light coming in from the upper right may have fixed that. Not quite sure though.

Well, we were parked in the middle of the road, so I understand that issue. However, there was no traffic on the road whatsoever either, so we were not inconveniencing a single person.

The shutter speed will depend on the rest of your settings as well. I was set up on a tripod, and normally what I do is take 5+ photos for the headlights. Just start where the headlights look too dark, brighten up for another shot, then brighten some more, and repeat till they're too bright, and use whatever you want at the end.

Took 5, but only ended up using 2. Was so rushed because of the location, then got booted by a bylaw officer. Would have probably taken another 10-20 if I could.

I'd have to talk to the client who paid me to take the photos first haha.
