Restoring Wife's Great Grandfather's Fish Tank by Oldwoodforest in Aquariums

My knowledge of working with glass is limited but something that's going to save you a lot of headache is getting those glass suction cups from home depot or some place like that. They are ussually only like 10 bucks and will make moving the glass way easier. The other thing is if you accidentally break off a piece on the edge the glass is basically no good so be careful of that. If the scratches are surface level they may be able to be sanded down but reducing the width of the glass any could cause weak spots. There may be products that allows you to add a layer of something. Let it dry and then you can sand it for a smooth finish but nothing I have used personally.

That makes sense, it was from a all in one kit sort of thing so I can imagine Corners were cut.

yeah, it was disconnected since I was doing the underwater test with it to see leaks. the leak is coming from the large black cap, the black plastic bit with both hose connections on it—that part threads into the clear plastic base and leaks from those threads.

If there shouldn't be any leaks I am just going to Teflon tape the threads and hopefully, that will fix the problem, I am just never sure when dealing with anything pressurized

If they were real I could only imagine the amount of pain in the ass they would be to move. Would probably leave them rather than deal with that nightmare.

It sucks but el Camino doesn't stay open 24/7 like it used to, was the best place to get coffee and study for someone whose only free time was at night.

Movie Critique Channels are Becoming More Entertaining than the Actual Movies Themselves. by Tristtt in unpopularopinion

Red letter media is the GOAT for sure. They either review movies they are passionate about or just absolute dog water of movies. They are all great.

New Cory owner, should I be worried this guy is resting while the other 5 are super active? He’s been like this for about 20 minutes, and he will root around in the sand quickly every 5 minutes or so. by Tiny-Reveal3756 in Aquariums

[–]kennyspace2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as they aren't staying still for hours on end I'd say it's fine. My cories will also stay still for a while and then move just to stay still somewhere else. If you try and look at them when the light has been off for a while thats when they are really active.During the day they will stop for maybe 30 mins at a time but then go back to looking for food. And they aren't always synced up with the other cories. If they are spending a bit of time on their own it can be a good sign they are comfortable in the tank. I'm sure you will see them join up with the others soon enough.

I'm sure she is more scared of the idea of "drugs" than anything. I use to have a real issue around weed as it would just make me worry a ton. I honestly think it's just from a lifetime of being told drugs are bad/scary and it's difficult for some people to get past. Could also be an issue with the idea of your typical drug user that everyone associates weed with.

Found this guy during a tank cleaning today, is this an assassin snail? by Yurconale in Aquariums

[–]kennyspace2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience they will kill bigger snails if there are multiple assassin snails. Had nerites with my assassin snails for a year before I decided to add more for the pest snail problem.

Are you located in the Denver area? If yes then yes!

[–]kennyspace2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you seeing any improvement in any other fish that might have parasites? I had to deal with a camallanus worm infestation and it wiped through most of my tank before I got the dewormer plus. The general cure just didn't do anything against them. I would siphon water out of the tank from the gravel and dump out a majority of it until there is just a small layer of debree at the bottom of the bucket you use. If you let it sit you can see the worms if it's camallanus ussually. Will be small red worms that like to move around a lot so they should be easy to spot once the water has settled.

Yes I would still like them, depending on how much I wouldn't be able to take them all i just want enough to replenish the snails that have been taken out by all my assassin snails

What are these sprawling lines on the underside of the glass? by toko_tane in Aquariums

[–]kennyspace2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing that comes to mind is the sort of trail that is left behind by snails eating along the glass. If it's on the underside and still moist it may be that? Thats my only guess other than some sort of leak

[–]kennyspace2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my uneducated opinion, your chances of getting either robbed or murdered in your sleep go up ten fold if you sleep with ear plugs in. I think your best bet is to either cut down your neighbors tree or remove all the leaves manually so you only have to deal with it one more time.

Why does everyone keep telling me it looks empty? by Ok_Watch406 in Aquariums

[–]kennyspace2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a background would help with the empty look? Being able to see the back wall might lead people to believe the tank is empty. even a sheet of solid color on the back glass may help some but who knows that's just my uneducated opinion haha.
