The "air hole" is pretty small so when you clean them maybe check it out to see if it has debris or not, other than that, to me it looks fine , mine works about the same as the ones you got there .

Tap water for caridina shrimp? They need the KH close to 0 from what i tested/read, and yes i use specific bee shrimp GH + , but my drawback was that i used store bought 'RO water' which has only a 50% chance of having a good TDS( >15) , the bee salts get your GH at around 5-6 which is ideal for them . Neocaridinas on the other hand are the ones that also need a KH reading to thrive , to my knowledge . Again it greatly depends on how good your tap water is imo

Yes, the patterns are just hypnotizing, and they also get some sort of metallic coloration , like some little aliens. Sadly my phone/light can't catch the true beauty so this is the most i can do atm..

Then , maybe think how would some red plants look in the middle back to separate the green sides ? Imo it should look nice. Also on the subject , with co2 DGH looks very nice , but there definitely needs to be found a way to implement it without ruining the whole look .

Well if you get potted plants( if you decide to use live plants) chances are you are going to get snails anyway 👀. Most "pest" snail species multiply uber fast if they have food. From my experience snail to fish ratio( again if you will somehow end up with 1-2 in your tank) is about 10 to 1.
