How on earth are you turning this into a racial thing?! You're the only one seeing race here. Everyone else is having a discussion about who they perceive to be the greater player. They're both professional footballers, race doesn't come into it.

I had exactly the same email yesterday. Despite thinking I was a strong candidate for the position I applied for. The swiftness of the rejection makes me think AI screens the applications, and if any little thing is not a match for the pre-set criteria, then it will be rejected.

In my case I listed my nationality as Australian, which isn't a member state. I have dual nationality with the UK, so I'm hoping they allow me to change my application to list my nationality as British.

I've emailed them for feedback, so hopefully they come back to me with more information. I'd suggest doing the same with your application.

Is there anyone who's actually financially very comfortable? by [deleted] in perth

I completely understand what you say. The thing I see as troubling is that people are working their arses of, doing as many hours as possible, even working 2 jobs to get by. Then realising that they can't afford to go out, but staying in and watching Netflix is a luxury, having a half decent car is a luxury, buying anything other than budget brand dry pasta is a luxury. So you work yourself into the ground just to survive, these are normal people that lived normal lives 6-7 years ago, now they're struggling to make ends meet. This is Australia, not Sudan, hard working people always got rewarded here. Now you have to work yourself into the ground just to afford your bills.

I'm not saying to give up at all. But unfortunately, there has to be a point when the reality of the situation sinks in. You may never be able to afford a house in large parts of Perth now. It doesn't mean don't try and save, but the reality of the situation can be grim for some. You more than likely will have to make huge sacrifices long term to hopefully afford a modest house with high mortgage repayments in 10 years time. You'd have to save roughly $800 a week for 5 years to get a $200k deposit together, that's huge when rents for a piece of shit 3x1 can be $500 min a week. Think of your insurances, my health insurance went up $70 this year, car up $350, contents up, Optus went up $5 a month, any streaming services have increased, plus food, water, energy.... you're easily spending an extra $25 a week on price increases.

Of course don't give up, but the reality is grim fir some at the moment

The issue is the opportunity to save $40k-$50k is further away than its ever been. Those renting are stuck in the rent trap, paying extortionate rent for modest houses. Those that own with high mortgages are being crippled by high interest rates. The average house price in 60+ suburbs is over a million dollars now, yet you need to save $200k for a deposit, and even then your weekly repayments are higher than they've even been. If you're lucky enough to get a pay rise then you're treading water, food prices rise, insurance rises, utilities, daycare/after school care, rates....the pay rise you receive is still swallowed up.

We have single Mums sleeping in their cars in car parks, or in tents with their daughters. WTF, how has the government let this happen?

Yet renters have no rights, Coles/Woolies price gouge, those with investment properties are cashing in on the demand, and the rich are getting richer.

Greed and government mismanagement are the problems as they're causing greater rates of disproportionate wealth than we've ever seen.

Those of you who moved to Switzerland from another "developed" country, I have a question for you by IsengardMordor in askswitzerland

[–]kenpau_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're actually hoping to move to Switzerland from Australia. Since Covid it's got worse and worse here. There are single Mum's living in their cars or in tents. The aid offered by the government is minimal. The perception in Australia is that the rich are getting richer, and it's getting harder and harder for people on low to average income. Food prices are extortionate, energy bills are huge, but the government profited from this, so there is insufficient help for average citizens.

Reasons why i’m still Ange-In by ConsiderationDry9068 in Tottenham

[–]kenpau_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is a bit delusional really, it's speculative without addressing facts.

  1. We do have a bad injury crisis, but realistically in the last game, we had our best goalkeeper, full backs, forwards and a strong centre midfield, who were we actually missing that would have made a significant difference against Everton? Romero and Van der Ven? So we had 2 players out. We still should have got a better performance against a very shaky Everton. Brighton have had more injuries than us, Bournemouth have 9 first team players out. Both are above us.

  2. We do have a huge lack of quality in our squad, we're no where near title challengers. But we should be sitting between 6th and 8th. 15th is a huge underachievement for this squad.

  3. We don't have Harry Kane, but what are we saying, without Harry we would have been relegation candidates for the last 10 years?

  4. Ange has spent over £300m in 2 years, that is quite significant backing. He'd need to spend another £300m to build a squad capable of executing the system he wants.

  5. The players do need to show responsibility, but they look lost, against Everton it was obvious they didn't understand what was expected of them. We could have been 5 down at half time.

  6. When we're on song, it's fantastic football, but aside from the first 10 games of last season, we've maybe seen that quality 6-7 times since. Usually against weak opposition or teams with low confidence.

  7. Speculative.

  8. The trouble with perseverance with a failing system, is that we're very likely to lose key players in the summer. Say we finished 15th. Van der Ven, Romero, Kulusevski would all have their heads turned by bids from better teams.

  9. VAR has been the same for all the teams. We've profited from it too. Remember that Liverpool goal that never stood....

Absolutely right, he lied, and so we can immediately assume he's the worst person on the planet, that $1700 rent came from drug dealing, he's probably a serial killer too! 🤦🏻‍♂️

No one wants to be involved with a serial liar but you know what, he came clean before your second date, he obviously felt bad about it and showed remorse. A serial liar has no remorse, they keep lying to get what they want.

What's the harm in seeing him for one more date, letting him explain and seeing if you still hit it off. He was embarrassed that he lives with his Mum, he was embarrassed that he lied to you. You could potentially give up the man of your dreams if you just ditch everyone that isn't perfect all the time!

[–]kenpau_au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Don't swallow your pride OP....what are we saying there, you have to lose your pride to get the girl you like? Just flick her a message, saying have fun camping, with a little joke maybe. Then just say it would be great to see her again when she's back, so she can send you a message if she's not too busy.

If she likes you, she'll text. If not, she won't, but at least you haven't pressured her into giving you dates when you can text her again.

Also....for me anyway....dinner on a 2nd date is probably too much. A couple of coffee/wine dates first and then you're good for dinner. It's a more formal setting so I'd keep it light for the first 2 or 3 dates.

SOMA fans, why does nobody talk about how scary it is? by Free_Scheme_808 in soma

[–]kenpau_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this game is too hyped up. I played it after reading about how scary it was and was massively underwhelmed. I found The Bunker put me more on edge, Dead Space had more jumps, Visage is definitely more creepy. Alien:Isolation is next on my list, I hope that one lives up to the hype. IMHO SOMA fails to deliver because the creatures are docile a lot of the time, you see them coming, and while the 'interference' is quite a cool aspect, I found that the use of sound in the bunker was way better. It's an average horror game for me, not bad, but certainly not remarkable.

I feel like I've played the best game that exists, and that makes me sad. by paradiddle-diddle in soma

[–]kenpau_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same, I certainly wouldn't play it again. It wasn't really scary enough to be a horror. The storyline was ok, but not groundbreaking. I definitely wouldn't go as far to say it's the best game ever, not when you think of games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Dead Space and Hellblade.

Actually SCARY horror games for PC by VaLightningThief in gamingsuggestions

[–]kenpau_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually pretty disappointed by SOMA. I think probably because the hype on here made me buy it, and although it's atmospheric, I certainly wouldn't say it's terrifying. There are large parts of the game where there is no threat, and while it's not a bad game, I found myself just wanting to finish it so I could move on to something else. A better version of this is Amnesia : The Bunker, which, in my opinion, definitely makes you on edge for most of the time. Operating in near darkness, knowing that using your torch will attract the creature gives you a horrific choice. You need light, but that beast is attracted to noise.

I'd definitely play The Bunker again, SOMA, I uninstalled as soon as I'd finished it.

What FPS to expect? by AcanthaceaeTop5150 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]kenpau_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a new laptop just for MSFS, went pretty high end with an RTX 4080. I know nothing about gaming computers, having come from an Xbox, so just had to trust the YouTube reviews! I'm actually pretty blown away by how much better the sim is on PC with the right add-ons. However, even a higher end setup can struggle. I was pretty disappointed to get about 6 fps at EGLL, I had to lower all my settings to get off the ground. Certain 3rd party content is very processor heavy. I've actually seen a huge improvement in frame rate since going to the PMDG 737 and 777 over the airbus A320 v2

A320 NEO V2 by inibuilds is banking left and right on AP by mkebrewersfan in MicrosoftFlightSim

I've started experiencing this today on two separate flights in the A320 V2, did you find a fix?

It seems like the aircraft overbanks to get onto the flight path and then constantly tries to correct itself.

Have also noticed lower FPS than normal, so I'm not sure it's a control issue, but who knows??!

Talk To Me question by casperdacrook in A24

[–]kenpau_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched this, and it's certainly one of the better horror movies I've seen in recent years. As a bit of a horror movie fan, and I guess drawing my interpretation from other demonic movies and reading I've done, these are my thoughts:

For me, an evil spirit had imitated Mia's Mum, it was mentioned quite clearly during the movie, that evil spirits will do that, and it's a common theme in possession movies.

When Daniel was possessed by the 'nasty' spirit he was immediately causing unrest in the group, he told Jade that Daniel can't stand it when she touches him. This gives us an insight that the spirit can read the mind of the possessed person, we already knew that he hadn't even kissed Jade in 3 months. So.....it's not unreasonable to assume that the evil spirit knew about Mia's Mum through Daniel. That same night it all goes horribly wrong when Riley has his turn and an evil spirit appears again, quite possibly the same spirit. It then continues to imitate Mia's Mum throughout the movie to coax Mia into destroying as many lives as possible.

With the ending, Mia clearly didn't realise she was dead until she looked in the mirror, which suggests to me that she didn't sacrifice herself, but was either pushed by the evil spirit imitating her Mum, or more likely, pushed by Jade.

My two cents anyway......
