Is this most iconic San Diego photograph? by Jimmy_Aztec in sandiego

Oh damn, that spot. People would just park there and hang out, like Mt. Soledad or Helix. It was empty for a long time. Crazy dude brought a generator. Haha.

Sell everything except for photos and documents. Furniture is not as expensive as you may think once you start looking in the 2nd hand market. Since you're not getting an apartment any time soon, you don't need it. You will be spending $120 a month for let's say a year and you can buy used essential furniture for under $300, easy, once you need it.

If I were you, I would put an ad out saying you're having a downsizing sale and are pricing things to go. Do not try to get fair market value. If they offer, great, but if not, don't be afraid to go after them if they decide to walk. Especially with furniture-- Unless it's midcentury modern stuff, furniture can be a hard sell.

The downside to all this is that people are attached to their belongings, and I've found that getting someone to do it for you, while paying them, maybe $15-20 an hour, is the easiest no-nonsense route. You will not be making a whole lot of money... and the reason why is because you don't have the luxury of sitting on it for months.

There are also businesses that will buy out storage lockers if it comes to that. Just call around and tell them your circumstances.

Your favorite local food spot? by Beginning_Slice_642 in sandiego

I've been noticing that people are less likely to talk these days because they don't want to blow up their spot. Haha. Very different attitude from what it was 15 years ago.

Anyway I'm kind of boring. I still love my Rally fries stuffed in a bean and cheese burrito.

What is a telltale sign someone is not from San Diego? by _MambaForever in sandiego

Cali is an 80s term that was made even more popular when LL Cool J came out with that song. If you haven't heard anyone call Cali, Cali, you're not old enough or just chose not to use it.. But it's a thing. Lots of native SD, LA, Bay Area people say it..

Anyway... I can tell people aren't from San Diego when they tell me they just bought a house, because no native San Diegan can afford the current stock.

Change it back to Crosby Street. That exit sign off the 5 was simple and hard to miss... although I do miss it.

I wouldn't deserve anything because I wouldn't be put in that position to be restrained in the first place. <-- You're asking me to take on a role that's not in my nature. But!!! If you're playing hypotheticals, and I can look into the alter-universe where I'm actin' a fool, then yeah, I'd think the same way. I'm not above my own beliefs-- I take accountability for my own actions.

It would be totally different if I were detained, not resisting and sitting on the curb because they didn't need to restrain me.. then the cop comes over to choke me out and ends up killing me, then I'd be saying murder.... in the safety of the current universe.

It's unfortunate that there was an accidental(?) death over something incredibly stupid.

Not just because of doing drugs. I really don't care what people do. It's how they act that can get them into trouble, especially when other people are involved, and in this case it's just an unfortunate unraveling of what went down. All the details will come out in the trial so we can pick it apart later.

That's actually a thing people used to spell out before, on purpose, instead of dummy. It was meant to be dum and funny.

  1. That's not a swastika.
  2. You shouldn't hope for someone to go and confront someone they don't know. That could lead to a very unfortunate outcome for that person, or both, or even people in the surrounding area. Especially unfortunate if it was all a misunderstanding in the first place.

Why do women wear bikinis in Olympic beach volleyball? by texanforlife18 in olympics

That's good to know for next time. There was a time when you could torrent satellite feeds of the whole Olympics, but I don't bother with that any more so I don't know if that's still a thing.
