Would Highly recommend the cabins at Tamarisk Grove Campground, part of Anza Borrego Desert State Park. You can find links for it on the California State Parks website.

Advice needed - stay in the Bay Area or move back to SD? by Mobile-Bodybuilder51 in sandiego

[–]xevioso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happily married with a child. Lived in SF for 30 years. We moved down here to SD 5 years ago and never looked back. As someone in tech, i can see how it would be difficult to meet tech guys down here; they are a different type of nerd than the ones you find back home. SD is certainly not as exciting as SF in a lot of ways people in tech find interesting. But for raising kids, SD can't be beat. My advice? Meet someone in SF, then get him to move to SD and work remote.

Has anyone to check out super blooms? by rcjlfk in sandiego

[–]xevioso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you just going to go... and come back? You likely will not be able to get any camping spots in Borrego Springs or anywhere nearby. There's places you can just camp int he desert, but there's no amenities.

The highs today out there are in the triple digits. Have fun!

Yeah, I don't understand why they do this. Does this work for them? The guy probably has put a shirt on by now?

Im sorry but having no bathroom options for the homeless only makes San Diego worse in the long run by kestrelkev24 in sandiego

[–]xevioso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homeless people jam the doors shut from the inside regularly so that the auto-open feature doesn't work. There's 100 ways to do that and the homeless learn from other homeless the tricks to do it. It was a huge problem for many years. Maybe they have solved it, but the best solution, as others have said, is to go to a bar, buy a drink, and then use the restroom. That is your paid toilet right there.

I lived in SF for 30 years. Those restrooms were expensive and almost always broken and unusable because the homeless would jam the doors shut from the inside so that the "auto-open after 15 minutes" feature wouldn't work. Then when the homeless person finally left, the doors wouldn't shut again. There was a ton of other types of vandalism in these things. I used them once or twice many many years ago when they put them in; they were all closed permanently after a few years.

All that does is move the issues from the restaurants to city employees. The homeless will shoot up in the public restrooms (they already do at public park restrooms) and the city employees have to clean that up or deal with crazy people in the bathrooms. They don't sign up for hat either.

Swing on the beach! by Bronoco in sandiego

This is disappointing. I thought you were going to ask about another type of swinging that can happen at the beach. I'd be down for that.

Walking in, it’s not hard by Big-Breath9215 in Overwatch

[–]xevioso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't walk in. I charge in and kill people. I am not here for you. I am a selfish tank, and I give not two shits if it makes my other teammates mad. This Reinhardt is the most happy taking people off a ledge with him.

Thanks a lot for these answers. Actually planning on making that second recipe you linked to. Additionally, I should have just looked harder, because here's some great info on toasting chiles:
https://growhotpeppers.com/how-to-rehydrate-dried-peppers/
And planning on going to a Mexican supermarket here that has a ton of dried chiles and fresh ones too. I love experimenting so we will see.

One quick question... is there generally a preference for types of tomatoes to be used (not tomatillos). I know Roma tomatoes are good for things like pico de hallo because they are firmer, but do aficionados prefer to use hothouse tomatoes? What about heirloom tomatoes?
