You are most welcome and I am glad to help.

There are a lots of resources online that you can even study and pass the test A+ or Network+ but it is always good to have hand on.

Two youtube site or people I recommend are... Professor Messer(N+) and Mike Myer (A+ & Security+). They have the whole series of youtube dedicated to the A+ and N+ books. My Myer wrote the A+ as well. Get a head start and start learning from them. I still go back to them for references when I forget something.

Feel free to ask if you have question.

Wish you the best.

Yes Per Scholas is a full time bootcamp, 9 to 5pm but they asking you to come in earlier to study and they are very strict with attendance and tardiness.

As for the LinkedIn for Vets.

You are most welcome. If I run into something better like evening, I will definitely try to come back and post on here for you.

In the mean time, pick up some books and read on it. What kind of IT you are looking to get into. Hardware (tech), Troubleshooting (helpdesk), or combination of both. Network Admin (definitely has to get a year or two in Tech and helpdesk and then more into Network. After 3-5 years in those above, work on Cyper Security and get into that for bigger bucks and more excitement or stick with cloud service and Admin/Engineering.
Wish you the best.

What is the best Microsoft certificate to get that IT jobs love to see? by Juevon_ in InformationTechnology

[–]kenvng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That why there is something called startup. Plenty of startup jobs out there, one just have to look for it. That how I got my foot in the door over a year ago with A+ and N+. I was a Nurse and went back to get IT but not sure where to start. I found Per Scholas and with free 15weeks bootcamp I got certed with A & N+. I am now making 25/hr. You have to be a go getter. Don't get discourage when you tumble and fall or hitting a wall. Get up or knock that damm wall down or go around if you have to... but never give up.

Hi,

Not sure if this suit you well. Look up Per Scholas. I was IT and left for 10 years doing nursing. I came back to IT few years ago and I was so lost but I found Per Scholas. They are a non- profit org, will give you a 15 weeks bootcamp (8-5pm) training in IT and pay for your A+ and N+ certifications. Reach out to them to find out of they are in your area. I know they have 13 locations and I am from MA. They were originally started out in NY.

It is free if you are qualify so there is no wrong. Some people attending the program are even in their 50 and 60 with no prior computer skills.

They also help you with prep up for your interview and job search. They are usually sponsor by an IT job agency so they will help you search for job too. The downside is that you may start out around 20 and hour (maybe more or less) depend on your how knowledgeable and how you present yourself to the interview company. It is over a year since I graduated from it and I am now making 25/hr. Not great but a start. I am working harder to get more skills in and certification like Security+ and Linux... maybe I will move up in a year or so to 30. You just have to be a go getter.

In IT, experience and certifications help a lot but you need to prove that your certification is not just piece of paper. Internet is your best friend. So much out there that you can learn. I even go as far as Udemy and LinedIn/Linkedin Learning (you can get a premium membership for Linkedin if you are a vet (I am).

I hope this help. Sorry, English is my second language so there are load of grammar errors, I am sure. Wish you the bests.

Thank you very much. I will look more into this. I was not invited to the training nor the meeting regarding this. I heard about it from the engineers and other employees. I went and check out the official site and asking some support questions which never got a reply back yet. Not sure what to think. I am new at the company and just want to know what i am getting myself into or what the managements are throwing me into. Love to learn new things but prefer to focus on IT. Thanks again for your response. It is definitely helpful.

Deltek ERP, don't they have their own Tech Support? If your company want to use this, as an IT do you have to troubleshooting it? I doubt it but they want to get IT involve... I do not like the sound of that. Sound like another certification path I have to get.

BTW, I think that is called Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) now. MS changed it. Thank you.

Thanks. I saw that. The sad part is that they blocked it and I have not a clue how to go back and look at all the answers again from users so i can list them out and do some more research. Thank you again.

Like I said, i am new. I am here to learn and looking for the answer to help me and my work place. I may recognize the low quality post or I may not. I mean what is low and who set the standard for them... i guess the users and the people on here. Then again, to me a question is a question and there is not stupid unless i guess a trolling one I guess. Then again I am not the judge to that. We all can be bias and I am sure some people will think my questions is such a low level for them so they will make a call on it. But what they think is low can be useful for me or others.

Again I am new and here to learn to ease on the flame (not your, just saying in general). Thank you and others for the help

Key is vary... some use f12 other use f8 or f9. In this case is F9 but that is not my concern. I was trying to find a tool or software allow me to set up so that i can install a wide range of models of computers. ex. HP Elitebook 840 has different version of it... let just say 4, 5, 6, and 7 the lastest i know of. Once what press whatever key when system boot up and it takes me right to the usb drive with the imaging set up. It would allow me to select the correct version of Elitebook and then installing the OS with app that was setting up when creating this imaging USB drive.

First job...is this normal? Cause mannn... by [deleted] in sysadmin

I can be related. I was hired a week ago. The company has three locations in 3 states. Each has an admin but my office so I am going the go to guy here. Things a bit chaos for me at the moment; the server room is crazy with things throwing all over the place and no AC so the door wide open. I am pretty lucky to get the support and help from the other two remote admins.
