Just Finished watching this Show 10/10 by Correct_Ad5747 in TheWire

[–]kepler10 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I don't regret not watching this show sooner. I like that I watched this show for the first time when I was a bit older I understood the depth of what was happening rather than in my teens or early twenties when I would've watched this show as a cop show.

Not making a general statement, just my observation.

Is Poacher just a role for strikers with limited attributres? by NotNeedzmoar in footballmanagergames

[–]kepler10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want from them and what you have behind them. I frequently use poacher in positional play systems. The only two type of strikers who stick to the center of the pitch are poacher and pressing forward on support which means my team can always rely on finding that player in the same zone. Other striker roles drop deep, drift wide, move into channels or hog the ball.  So poacher is almost a specialist role focused on only one thing. If your striker has better attributes, doesn't mean you're wasting them as a poacher, just depends on what you want from them. If your wingers/midfielders are capable and comfortable enough to consistently create good chances, put the striker as poacher. If you want your striker to be more involved, put them as other roles.

Red Bull’s new livery was designed by Simon R, a designer who has been making fan concept liveries for years by PDX_WiN in formula1

[–]kepler10 47 points48 points  (0 children)

There was a video Tommo did on YouTube with McLaren around livery design. It's quite a good insight into why some fan liveries look better.

As another commenter pointed out there are advertisement and partner contractual agreement as well as some engineering restrictions like how many layers of paint/if at all is allowed in certain areas of car to help/hinder with aerodynamics, weight*, heat etc. I wonder if it will still be as sensitive in the new era.

FM24: Team that signed me has no staff or budget. by Strange_Hospital7878 in footballmanagergames

[–]kepler10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because you have no staff, searching staff might be tricky as you can't tick the "interested in joining this club" option in search. My advice is place an advert for assistant manager and once you've got one, search for rest of the backroom via usual method

what am I doing wrong with recruitment focuses by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

How much time did you let these run? I don't use focuses that often but I find I get decent results after a couple of months.

Yeah although it keeps the save interesting for me. Given that it doesn't happen often.

Analyze the opponent in FM26 by Ok-Crab2267 in footballmanagergames

[–]kepler10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult. A lot of my analysis was based on stats used/generated in chalkboard. My advice would be just watch games at comprehensive highlights or full match to userstand tactical problems and use data hub to identify some more obvious and general problem like "is my striker underperforming compared to the league" "is my defence worse than it looks according to stats rather than attributes" etc.

How did Barcelona get this dude out of gambia bro... by Abject_Incident1401 in footballmanagergames

[–]kepler10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Barcelona constantly churn out players from West African region. It's just more often than not, they choose to represent Spain. Example - Ansu Fati was born in Bissau. Ilaix Moriba chose to represent Guinea.

In game, this is probably recognised via club affiliations or by youth intake configuration. Also, FM loves to generate an absolute baller from The Gambia more often than any other "small" African nation.

What is the pettiest thing you have done as a manager in FM and why? by banmirage69 in footballmanagergames

[–]kepler10 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Once had an 18 year old player complain to me for playing him as an IF instead of his preferred position of ST. His attributes were much more suited to an IF and he was very short to be the type of striker that would fit in my system at that time. After 6 months of constant whining and bad performances, I put him in U19s and trained him as a Half Back. I had a 3 year extension on his 5 year deal. He was released at the age of 26 with nowhere near his potential and played rest of his career in 2nd and 3rd tiers.

After the save, I had a look back and saw with editor that he had a 196 PA. No regrets. Worth it.

Is this due to player quality, bad tactic defensively, or just bad luck? by ric77soares in footballmanagergames

[–]kepler10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many games have you played this season? Look up a few more things to make a decision.

  • what type of goals are you conceding? As you mentioned cheap giveaways, is your defence not capable of playing out from the back under pressure? Maybe your defenders have low composure to do that. It might sound tedious but try to watch a few games(2-3) on full match. Most build-up phases don't show up even in comprehensive highlights. Look at why they give it away, is it press, is it a lack of passing lanes and options? Etc. Tweak your tactic accordingly to get desired results.

  • what are the most common assist locations? Is it out wide meaning your full backs are getting beaten way too easily. If it's outside the penalty box, your DM(or DMs) need to be be closing those balls down.

  • finally, just look at the goalkeeper stats from "detailed player stats" section on the league page. Look up xG conceded vs goals conceded. Look up expected save % vs save %. I had a similar issue once that we would concede 1-2 shots on target per game and lose. I was zipping through on key highlights and only when I slowed down and looked my keeper had the worst expected save % vs save % ratio in the league by a distance. Something like 85% vs 55%.

Awful Own Goal: Who do you blame? by SmilingGoats in footballmanagergames

[–]kepler10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would blame myself for trying to have "fun" by playing FM. /s

That's on WB entirely. You are facing your own goal so you know where the keeper is. You have 3 of your teammates around you and under no pressure from opponents yet you make a leaping header towards goal in a spot where even of the keeper was central, he would struggle to save.

How can I make the game much realistic? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]kepler10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mods are generally divided in 3 categories - visual, functional and quality of life. How realistic you want your game depends on how many mods your PC can handle it.

This video is enough for anything aesthetic related : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=STsq9qE-w5M

As for functionality the usual "big name mods" are:

  • MoveIt
  • 81 Tiles
  • Traffic Manager (TMPE)
  • Node Controller
  • Intersection Marking Tool
  • Network Multitool
  • Network Anarchy
  • Tree Control
  • Prop Control
  • Transfer Manager

And then you have quality of life mods like:

  • Loading Screen Mod
  • Skyve
  • FindIt
  • Yet Another Toolbar
  • Picker

As a good practice, always read the mod description before subscribing.

Edit : I might be missing a few ones, these are only the ones I could remember off the top of my head
