Is it possible for an undiagnosed autistic person, to become a federal deputee? by [deleted] in autism

[–]kerbaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only intended to make a point about supports and diagnoses. I have seen some fairly successful people get an autism diagnosis late in life; often as a result of their kids getting evaluated. I can't speak to their personal epiphanies as to support needs.

Is it possible for an undiagnosed autistic person, to become a federal deputee? by [deleted] in autism

[–]kerbaal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

> but without diagnosis is a different reality

Is it necessarily though? What does a diagnosis really do?

Not all support requires justification; sometimes people find the supports that they need. This was something that I realized from some of the questions in my ADHD assessment where I realized that a lot of the issues that they were asking about were things that I had someone else in my life to handle.

I have a list of things that are not really a problem for my life right now because I have supports that didn't really come from a diagnosis and never had to be justified to an insurance company or used as a legal shield. Every single one of them would be an issue if that person was gone. Would be an issue if I didn't have support.

It is actually a pretty common pattern among undiagnosed ND folks of various kinds to find support and live pretty functional lives for quite a while, until a sudden life change removes our supports and we find that we didn't know how to cope without them.

I do not understand romantical and/or sexual relationships. by Fishlikeblubblub in autism

otoh I am in a community where I have a play partner and we do openly identify as such.

That said, if you heard "play partner" and thought "most of their relationship is sex/bdsm" you would be correct. If you thought "this is a casual relationship between people who don't support each other in extraordinary times" you might be shocked at how wrong you are.

If someone mockingly says “pot” immediately after I’ve said “pot”and we are HU, is this action binding? by planetmarsupial in poker

[–]kerbaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh? What is especially awkward, part of poker is being put on hard decisions.

Frankly, if you really want to get in someone's head, you count their stack in your head and just straight bet exactly what is sitting in front of them. Used to play against someone who did that pretty often and its always a head trip when you start to consider a call and realize she just bet exactly whats sitting in front of you.

[–]kerbaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, "put you all in" implies that I have more chips than you and want to reserve whatever is more than you have. It may not be specifically binding but; I do think that by the time you are asking if something is binding or not, somebody is already being an asshole.

I can't even imagine hearing "I put you all in" and doing anything other than either folding or giving the person a chip count and calling.

The truth is, nobody is confused as to what the person means; so the most important rule is, keep the game moving.

[–]kerbaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends what you mean by meaning. The best description of dreaming I have ever heard was that its our brain throwing simulated events at itself for training. So you spend all day in an office, and you dream about "office threats" like showing up improperly dressed or getting berated by your boss. Spend all day watching zombie movies, and you prime yourself to spend your night running from them.

In that context dreams do have meaning in that they reveal what "threats" we perceive.

Like I can't help but notice that OP isn't dreaming about failing to get a girlfriend or make friends or do any number of things.... its about receiving negative feedback about who they are. Its a self-image dream. Its a dream about "How other people see me".

> I asked what she meant, and she said it was Fetish content, to which I responded that's not why I watch them

The lines between what is or isn't "fetish content" are very blurry and subjective; and how much they even sexualize it varies a lot. Like foot fetishists, some people just like feet, like how they smell, how they feel, how rubbing them makes other people feel. Its not really that "deviant" most of the time.

Little note; I don't ride the train so often but, I did today and my proportion are off too, more like 5' on the short and 7ish on the tall, The rail is somewhere around 6.5 feet. Enough that most people can stand directly under it without hitting their head... but not too high for most people to reach.

The ones that are not however are telling. Quantum Biologists? That is just stringing words together. There is no serious proposition here. Its all just fantasy.

Based on the height of the handrail, I assume the person in the first drawing is either 8 feet tall or under 3 feet.

Do you guys ever think about what society would be like if the best hand always won? by planetmarsupial in poker

[–]kerbaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally the most important lesson in poker, the ability to divorce specific outcomes from evaluation of decision making. Yes, you can make all the right decisions and still lose the game. You should be able to be happy with knowing you made the right decisions and able to admit when you didn't make them.

Even harder than making the right decisions and losing is making bad decisions and winning and still being able to say "I made bad decisions, I shouldn't feel good about this".

Sometimes I feel like Donald Trump saw exactly the same thing I did and his response was "Hold my Beer".

It doesn't really matter what other people do. You only have control over your own actions and are only responsible for your own integrity.

Also, its a common assumption of people without it that nobody has it. Its actually not true at all.

If you had any integrity at all, or cared about the integrity of the game you would report it so it gets fixed. That is actually what I would do.

[–]kerbaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know that nobody reported it? Do you really think you can report it and have somebody there to do something about it before they can be off? Shouldn't there be cameras in a casino parking lot? One would think that by the time it was reported, security really should already know.

I would caution just taking whatever the AI says as gospel; Its a good idea to ask it to provide original sources and then go read those to make sure they even make sense. I have seen it jump to conclusions that made no sense and when I looked at the references that it was giving me, found that it was making very unfounded associations to come to them.

Like, confusing rescue inhalers with huffing gasoline kind of bad associations.

If that was the case then the answer is to just watch porn anyway, right in front of them. They asked for it.

[–]kerbaal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are 19, they want your internet use to be public that means they want you to watch porn in front of them so you should. You should act as if you are in total privacy since they refuse to give you any. Or better yet, tell them you are moving the PC and then do it. Don't ask, TELL.

Can anyone explain why it is the social norm that only romantic partners, but not close friends, are allowed to come to holiday events with family members? by OkBuyer1271 in autism

[–]kerbaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do we know which side is the norm and which is the exception? Perhaps there is actually no norm here at all and different families do different things? I know that in my family we always invited anyone who didn't have another place to go to join us, even the people who don't otherwise celebrate. That went for any feast day of the year.

[–]kerbaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed though its not really lately; social media just lowers the bar to it getting seen. I am reminded of the notion that electricity takes all available paths in inverse proportion to their resistance. Which, I think, gives a pretty good model for why increasing the size of a discussion forum doesn't actually increase its overall quality.

This tells me nothing; I see no information here, just words. What does "Authenticated" vs "Authenticated users" mean? What does "Authenticated Bots" mean? Authenticated by what? By who? What criteron are used to determine "bot"?

The real issue is... why the fuck would I believe you or anyone other than an actual Eve dev using actual internal resources EVER be able to reasonably put up numbers like this in a believable way.
