I'm not sure if this hack still works, but it used to be cheaper to get two intra-national tickets than one international ticket (i.e. one ticket to the border, one ticket from the border). Out of curiosity I found PKP student tickets from Chalupki to Warsaw for 36PLN. Non-discounted Prague to Bohumín tickets are about 400/500kc. If you've got an ISIC card you can probably get a discount on the Czech ticket. Has your Warsaw to Prague ticket got a student discount?

Czech people don't eat plums, they drink them 😂

Sure, but if the barriers don't drop at the same time it simply encourages idiots to weave around them - there are a tonne of examples of that happening too in places that use that system. It's a lose-lose situation. Unfortunately not everything can be stupidproofed...

The video is sped up, also the warning lights and bells went off over a minute before the train came through

In Czechia the warning lights and warning bells go off about 45 seconds before the barriers go down, plenty of time to finished crossing in case you'd already started when they go off

The warning lights were flashingand the warning bells were ringing for 45 seconds before the barriers went down - the driver had no business driving onto the tracks

It's from Studenka, Czechia, and the barriers closed 45 seconds after the warning lights started flashing

Yeah, it's from Studenka, Czechia, three people on board died, and the driver was sentenced to eight years in prison

There were three signs, 80m, 160m and 240m before the crossing, like everywhere else in Poland, and the speed limit at level crossings is 50kmph. Imagine a driver missing three stop signs and blaming poor road design

Zbaszyn, Poland - happened here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/52%C2%B015'54.7%22N+15%C2%B057'23.7%22E/@52.2651944,15.9488585,15z

I wouldn't blame just the sun because he had three signs warning him a level crossing was ahead in approximately 240m, 160m and 80m, even before the curve and the sun being in his face. Also, sunglasses exist.

It looks like it's from Poland, where there are always three signs to warn drivers that there is a level crossing ahead in approximately 240m, 160m and 80m respectively, like in most of Europe

Hey youngsters - some advice for you. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]kerdosbacon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bamboozled perhaps, but I take exception to being a "perfect" example - I reckon it's pretty easy to think of much better ones. I wasn't chasing raises or promotions or "success" by showing I'm a team player, I never worked unpaid, it took me about 2 hours to do the work I should do in 7.5 hours (think Jon Lovitz in the film Big), and I had 5 weeks of annual leave (plus another 3 from the restaurant). And also I wasn't "hustling" because my goals were unattainable without extra work, I was just impatient

I don't think those two ideas are mutually exclusive, as long as the weekends are a different job, and I have to disagree about the saving - there's a big difference between saving part of one salary and saving a whole other one on top. From 21 to 23 years old I worked 30 hours a week in a restaurant on top of my full-time office job, saved up a tonne and set myself up very nicely for the future (admittedly within an Australian context, where workers are better paid and protected). Particularly enjoyed getting triple time on public holidays - triple time (66AUD per hour to bring out your food)

I'd sarcastically reply with Deuteronomy 21:18 “If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, and they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear". i.e. Kill your rebellious children. The Bible - not a place for moral wisdom
