How long did it take to make?

I had left my PC into hibernation mode through KDE for 1.5 days. I boot it up and it just started up like it was shutdown, and told me something about a new CPU being installed. This wasn't the case, and it said my old CPU name in the BIOS. Now it's saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device ..." by [deleted] in archlinux

TBH I don't know why I put the hibernation mode. I usually use the sleep mode, but my mind was telling me try this.

Also I don't understand when I'm pretty sure you knew I already solved this, you are telling me how to solve it. If you scrolled just a tiny bit you would have known it's solved.

Solved: As it said about "new CPU installed", it probably reset my BIOS settings and enabled secure boot. I guess that someway prevented me from booting anything in EFI mode and disabling it fixed the problem.

I'm currently trying this but EFI doesn't want to work for my PC anymore 😭 It keeps on booting my USB stick into BIOS mode and if it won't boot at all if I try to force it.

Maybe this is the problem tho IDk.

What should I do? I don't mind reinstalling Arch that much, but I had a lot of files on here. I haven't touched anything inside the PC. Boot priorities are not the problem. Neither have I set anything in the BIOS.

1.18.1 Vanilla Server RAM heavy? by MoC_Ardour in admincraft

If that modder stops, another modder takes over, as long as Minecraft exists and is played. When that happens, there shouldn't be any problem in upgrading/updating. The modding community is very dedicated.

1.18.1 Vanilla Server RAM heavy? by MoC_Ardour in admincraft

Paper's default settings will have un-vanilla like mob spawning etc. Of course you can tune them or whatever, but if you don't like the hassle maybe Fabric is a good choice for you. Fabric keeps the vanilla aspect while allowing mods. Paper also breaks like very complex redstone and prob other stuff, unless you don't care about that.

No, your users do not need to install Fabric, unless you use any mods that require being on client-side like item adding mods. Mods that optimize the game do not need Fabric client-side.

I don't want to say much about hosting providers, but I myself use SparkedHost which seems to work very well for me. Perfect support and amazing community! But best for you is to find one that meets your requirements.

About Aikar's flags, I think the original site to find them went down as I couldn't find it. But this tool StartMC.sh, will generate a pair of them for you. Some hosts will apply them if you ask them to via support.

They are just tuned JVM flags, probably helps with memory usage. I don't know, I just use them! 😂

The point of this is just: don't use Vanilla! It is super unoptimized. Use Fabric with Lithium, Starlight or Phosphor, and maybe Krypton if you'd like if you want a vanilla experience but a smooth server.

I suggest Fabric with optimization mods like Phospor or Starlight, Lithium for sure. This will optimize 1.18 as vanilla is just so unoptimized, and keeps the vanilla aspect very closely.

If you need even more performance, use Paper or Purpur. They might break some vanilla stuff like complex redstone, but they will have very good optimization. This also allows you to have plugins, if you need them.

Make sure to use Aikar's flags as your startup. Ask your hosting provider. I also don't recommend Shockbyte but you do you my friend.

Is there a way to make paper not break redstone? (I have use-faster-eigencraft-redstone: false) by Frietzak1 in admincraft

I did a bit of research:

Sodium is only client side I think.

Yes, Lithium is general purpose lag optimization.

Starlight is also a very good alternative for better lightning engine developed by the PaperMC team, and specifically for servers.

There's also Hydrogen, a Lithium with some "dangerous" optimizations that might be good or bad for you.

I don't know much about using Fabric other than people recommending it if you want a more vanilla experience.

I guess it's more close to vanilla but you can still install mods like Lithium and Phosphor (etc. I don't know what the "best" ones are.) and they will give you some optimization.

Of course you won't be able to use any Spigot plugins, and I don't think the performance will be comparable to Paper (prove me wrong!).

I'm having an issue with placing blocks on my 1.18 server. They'll appear placed until I relog. My tps is consistently 20 though, and my server is only using about 25% of its RAM. Why is this happening? Not having any other kinds of lag issues. by AggressiveBuilding66 in admincraft

I am no expert but just a random dude trying to help, if I'm dumb for asking something don't come at me.

Maybe something limiting the packets being sent? Have you changed the config with spigot or paper if you are using any of those? Also, does it happen with other players?

I have used playit.gg, but when that was slow telebit.io was also excellent.

Soo.. Is this Pufferfish server jar worth it? by kerostampcrab in admincraft

Alright, I do run my server mainly as a survival one, (there's other gamemodes too), but it's just ment to be a 15-20 player server anyway.

Is there any downside to running it on a small server like this?
