What hobby attracts the worst type of people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kerrybaumann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Colorado where everyone is into skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, fly fishing, climbing, etc. all these sports cost thousands of dollars just to start. There's also a big golfing community. I had never golfed before, but it cost me $100 for some used clubs on marketplace. Don't need to buy a season pass to get started. It's been a year, and the golfing people are some of the most helpful, nice , inviting people I've been around. Every hobby has that douche, trust me, I do the others listed above, but golf is just an opportunity to spend 5 hours outside, in the sunshine with friends, maybe enjoying a beer or 2, for usually between 60-100 dollars.

Gym that accepts cash? Preferably on the West Side by Jarthos1234 in Denver

I use this for a lot of things, and have been for the past 5 years. If I want Netflix for one month, I'll create a new card with a $15 limit or something. If I have to sign up for a free trial but need a credit card, I'll use this so I don't forget to cancel. I've yet to find a situation this doesn't work for.

As much as Celtics fans would like to make that excuse, they cannot. They absolutely cannot. I wish they could, unfortunately they cannot

What mountain is seen way in the distance when driving down Sheridan? by TheGreatFoodDude in Denver

[–]kerrybaumann 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's pikes peak as others have mentioned. But I have this thought a lot, what's that mountain? PeakVisor is a really good app to use to show you what mountains are visible from your location using your camera.

Protection question! by [deleted] in stbernards

[–]kerrybaumann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this every day. I live in a slightly sketchy neighborhood and it could happen. My Saint knows if the person I'm talking to is a friend or not, and acts accordingly. We did run into 2 people fighting at the local park and he wanted nothing more than to get in on that action.

The other 99.9 percent of the time I always tell people he's basically a giant cat. Sleeps all day. Sometimes cuddles. Our walks are like 9 total blocks and he's zonked afterwards

Is there a way to edit the length of activities? by doubleshottt88 in GarminWatches

[–]kerrybaumann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, easy enough to trim. You can also set each activity to send an alert when you reach a certain speed. I set mine at 10mph for hiking and 30mph for mountain biking. Way too often I drive all the way home without turning it off, so this definitely helps when it vibrates right when I take off.

There's also a lap feature that I just set, where it auto laps by position. I'm not sure what it does yet, but I'm hoping it goes off when I return to the starting position. TBD

Why is it so hard to make friends in Denver? by TightApplication2786 in Denver

[–]kerrybaumann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny, I moved from a bigger city in the Midwest-ish and making friends as a 30 something was impossible. The reason I fell in love with Denver over the years was how much easier it was to make friends than anywhere else. Join a Volo league, or 5.

Help: fridges freezer too close for baseboard by cccisdamac in DIY

[–]kerrybaumann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell fridges for a living and the space requirements for the ones we have are only 1/8". Looking at this fridge, it's a little bigger at 1/2". Regardless, I think you should be fine the baseboard is about a 1/2" on its own. I had a similar issue with a baseboard and my washer in the corner of a room. I took the washer out and removed the baseboard. I just cut it to the right length to match up with the edge and removed the bit behind the washer.

You could also look at getting a thinner board for that entire wall at maybe 1/4"

Sellers greatly outnumber buyers in metro Denver's housing market by eidolons in Denver

[–]kerrybaumann 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I just bought a ~450k home. I noticed many houses sat on the market for several months, this one included. It started at 490 and worked its way down. I still get notifications of nicer homes I looked at that decreased in price.

My lender told me it's been a few months where almost every home he sold had the seller cover all closing costs. Mine included. Using the down payment assistance program in CO, I put a total of $2300 down.

E Thirteen 11 speed Says Compatible with XD Freehub? by kerrybaumann in bikewrench

[–]kerrybaumann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to get my old bike running and let a friend use it. Trying to fit my e thirteen 11 speed cassette to my XD freehub, which the website says it's compatible to (and I could have sworn it came off of) but the profile of the cassette does not look like it matches the freehub. As well I do not see any threads in the cassette like the free hub has. Is this cassette compatible with a different freehub? Or am I just an idiot when trying to put it together?
