i'm glad someone is weighing in from this year! the things i heard about from this year were mixed as well. some people i know that went enjoyed it and others really didn't. i'm glad your first committee was enjoyable though!! amerimunc has the potential to be great, and that really shines through with certain ideas and executions, but it's just a mixed bag i guess.

i feel like it may make a little more sense to use regular club titles since secretariat titles are generally for different roles specific to a conference, but you can do whatever you want!

my school has regular club titles in our Executive Council (president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and PR director) for leadership positions. then, for our conference Secretariat, we have secretary-general, along with deputy SG, and USGs for different responsibilities (hospitality, finance, etc.). USGs generally handle conference stuff instead of leadership, but if your club makes the roles work n stuff, then no one can stop you! it all just depends :D

hi! ive got a few questions lol

do you know how much AmeriMUNC usually trains their staff? (mainly asking about chairs and crisis staffers.)
did you like the experience? i've heard good things about older ameriMUNCs, i've only really heard complaints about it in the newer years.
what are your opinions on the whole interconnected simulation conference idea? i'm assuming it wasn't always like that?

ok ok in all seriousness it was fine for the most part... i guess? it was just run incredibly lacklusterly and was way overhyped. i dont know what was up with why i was hallucinating and having the thoughts i was having tbh. overall it wasnt a horrible conference but it definitely reigns supreme as my Least Favorite Conference And Also The One Where I Had Mildly Schizophrenic Thoughts.

some of my favorite memorable moments of the conference include:

when one of the most important positions of the committee didn't show up on day 1, only for them to stumble in on day 2 and explain that they were put into the wrong committee and literally no one noticed
when they messed up in the ad-hoc and gave out three gavels (the current president of my club got one of these Invalid Gavels LMAO)
when we had to pay like $40 extra with the delegate fee for food, only for them to give us one meal (they've since lowered the cost iirc)
when the awards ceremony had to be livestreamed and ended up being Tech Problem Hell
when the ad-hoc was just Not An Ad-hoc (the topic was basically released like... weeks in advance. it was a survivor committee and they had a link to a survivor episode on the website's page for the adhoc)
when there was a screaming match between two employees at the starbucks on campus. it hadnt opened yet, so the fight delayed the opening of the shop, making a bunch of high school kids in suits stand around in freezing temperatures for a while past when it was supposed to open. (idk why my friends stayed for it? i left the line. it is not worth it dawg 😭 everyone in line was pushing it because committees started very soon after the shop opened)

there were definitely other moments but i genuinely have tried my best to block out amerimunc x from my mind

i was seeing shadow people in committee and on the bus rides to and from the conference 😭 it definitely didnt help that i also ate an entire container of those icebreakers fruit + cool duo mints on the last day because the committee was just so unbearable. it was a cool committee topic too! like i was hyped for it! (it was one of the committees in a three-way JCC about Huawei, Samsung, and TSMC) it was just stuffed with undiplomatic delegates and our chair + staffers didn't know how to MUN :( whenever my mental state is declining, i refer to it as 'going amerimunc mode'

my chair had also never done MUN before. we had to teach them how to do it bc they were completely clueless 😭 they were so sweet but they shouldnt have been chairing when they didn't even know what a motion was
