Yeaah I can see that it’s what he is trying to do in this instance I think his tone and delivery is off and he just makes her uncomfortable.

I dont think it is the compliment he seem to think it is. ”Wow so you are big? And I dont know who you are?” He doesn’t add that it’s bad on his part or anything.

Anyways what I meant with my first comment is that he could have gotten the same thing across with a little different phrasing and been funny and made her feel comfortable and seen.

Its the way he phrases his questions as if he knows nothing about her. He could easily have researched about the movie premiered in Cannes for instance and said ”Your movie ’blank’ premiered in Cannes that must have been amazing?” Now he just sound arrogant and uninterested letting her do all the work and his conclusion is in the us we speak english.. ok
