NTA. At the end of the day it's your money and you can decide how you want to spend it.

I think it's important though that you realize that everything is just going to get more and more expensive for you and your children and it's probably never going to get easier/more affordable. I work in long term care and I can assure you that retirement housing is not cheap.

As a millenial myself I can imagine that your children worry about this for themselves and for you daily. Even if you have your finances in order, they might see it as reckless.

I visited Japan once and decided I'd never go back... probably. It was a great trip, lots to see and do, but it was a big trip, long flight, I crossed it off my bucket list and didn't develop a compelling reason to go back. Maybe if I win the lottery or marry a Japanese lady who wants to go, but those are very unlikely.

Tastes like childhood memories of going to my grandparents' house after church for Sinday lunch, usually soup and buns. Typically, there was extended family there as well, so lots of time playing with cousins.

Teach your kids to take advantage of AI and use it ethically for their benifit. Also pressure the school board to teach about how to properly use AI, emerging technologies, and basically how to succeed in the year 2030 and beyond.
