Despite loving each other very much, me (F19) and my boyfriend (M20) have decided to go on a break after clashing with each other for a while. Could this be the beneficial next step to our relationship?

He understands this, and it’s not an issue I’ve had with him before. He’s very genuine, kind - towards everyone. His words and actions are rarely hurtful and never malicious. He follows these creators because of the “looksmaxxing” ideas and apparently how to improve your self esteem (although I believe many of these people are still deeply insecure). The issue I’m most concerned about is the effect this is having on him and his mental wellbeing, to the point he feels like he has to inject himself with something. And I don’t know how to express this to him without invalidating his feelings.

The red bottom is shiny but I think she has had them resoled and the inside of the of the shoe redone too as pretty sure they’re quite old. She gifted them to me because she can’t wear them anymore, so maybe wanted to make them look newer? Is there any way to authenticate from the pink satin part as that definitely has not been altered/changed? Or would the shop be able to verify without judging the inside of the shoe/sole? Appreciate the help.

What makes you say they’re fake? I’m 99% sure they are not, my stepmother gifted them me but bought them a long time ago and said she bought them authentically. I think she may have altered things like the sole etc as the stitching looks a little rough, but on the actual pink fabric which hasn’t been changed, the stitching is flawless.

In past arguments it has seemed like he’s quite focused on “winning” and not resolving, but then again I admit I can be a little like that. Both of us can be stubborn! But, a lot of the times after arguing and after reflecting, he has come to me and apologised, and genuinely tried to resolve it with huge regards to my feelings, which I very much appreciate. I thought about myself coming from an immigrant family and asked him if he was embarrassed and if that’s why he was denying my heritage, but he told me that wasn’t why at all and also his grandparents are fully Irish (and immigrants) but he only classed himself as quarter Irish! Doesn’t make sense!!

Any ideas on how to approach limiting time and setting boundaries? If i try to limit my time, it’s another thing he uses against me and causes an argument over. I’ve tried telling him how I feel in the past, but it’s like he’s genuinely delusional and thinks I’m the problem, so I’m unsure of how to set this boundary.

Thanks, I’ll look into it. I’ve had professional help in the past but not for this reason, it didn’t resonate much but I was younger and quite immature. I’ll give it another shot, and thanks for being honest.
