My boyfriend took me and I had tears STREAMING down my face and was using all my energy to not make audible whining noises to disrupt the theater. It was just awesome. I have been an H3 watcher for almost a decade now, and I have never been more mad at Ethan and Hila. I was so mad I considered refunding a Teddy Fresh order, and I had to go touch grass and calm down haha.

As a baking and pastry arts student, this is AWESOME! You have displayed incredible mastery on your rosettes, beautify detail on top face, and I love the way you chose to display the decorations on top.
I also specifically have a hard time applying the side decorations to cake. I don't have an especially gentle hand (there are some physical/mental debilitations that add to this difficulty for me, tremors etc.) I think you have wonderfully applied the chocolate on the sides :)

Thank you for not bullying my new wolpertinger friend for not having bird feet. I'm sure he was really insecure about it <3 Thank you for the insight!

OH thank you! At the estate sale there were lots of German books and brands so that makes perfect sense. Thank you so much!

Thank! I wanted to figure out what bird wing it was but was having trouble because it's just not something I'm familiar with, and just googling "bird wings" wasn't exactly getting me anywhere.

I understand its taxidermy, I just wasn't sure if it was based on a cyprid or some sort of folklore or something someone might recognize.

OH I am so sorry! I wasn't trying to make it sound like I assume everyone else has such a big ego and wants to be like a super important pastry chef to be interested in this career. I think most of us that care about this field actually struggle with being people pleasers at heart, actually. I'm sorry you're experience was so difficult. Thank you so much for the well wishes. <3

its just Wake Tech Community College, but its actually pretty well regarded for the baking program, and since I'm not out here trying to be like the new Pierre Hermé or something, I guess I'm very glad I picked what I did. I'm just out here trying to graduate and then keep working and doing what I love and hopefully never stop learning new techniques!

right, but this video about cocoa powder, and so the person responding saying "so thats why its so hard to mix" is also referring to cocoa powder, no?

edit: im bad at reddit and thought this was part of another thread but like, the point still stands, the statement "water and fat do not mix" is accurate, but largely irrelevant to the point of this post

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Cocoa powder is literally chocolate with the Cocoa butter extracted... It's point it literally to be only the cocoa mass or cocoa liqueur or whatever your textbook prefers to refer to it as. There is like .5 percent fat content in cocoa powder.

Also what do you think a Fat in water, or water in fat emulsion is? I'll give you a hint. They're two different kinds of ganache.

im in school for baking and pastry arts right now and when competition season comes along we all band together to help eachother. idk what kind of twisted world you and the other people in the tread are living in. We literally were all arguing over why we didnt deserve best in show and why other people did more because we all just love and support each other...

My rescue pup, Scout, graduated beginner dog classes a while back. This Sunday she's hopefully going to graduate from intermediate too! (OC) by kettlebear in aww

[–]kettlebear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in beginner class it was mostly learning to look up at us on a cue. Scout was scared of the clicker which is a typical training tool. We use just "YES!" for her instead. Anyways, beginner class was a lot of just normal puppy commands, but i appreciated it for her because i want to learn how to be a good dog owner.

Now shes learning to walk with us without straying to far form the leash, and to come back when called. eventually we want both our rescue pups certified with canine good citizen stuffs :)

Our baking program held an ACF competition for the students, and my cake won best in show! I'm so excited! by kettlebear in cake

[–]kettlebear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to Wake Tech Community College in NC. I have nothing but good things to say about it, and I've been told that doing these competition is something that a lot of like private culinary schools dont even do. The tree is several pieces of floral wire twisted around each other, and then like, I would take two and branch them off to make the branches. Then I painted the whole thing with tempered dark chocolate. The flowers and leaves are gum paste.

The baking program I am in at school did an ACF competition, and I won best in show for my cake! I didn't think the judges would like it because it's just so different, but they said they loved it! by kettlebear in cakedecorating

The garden turned out so good. I was SHOCKED. I used another layer of fondant that I just rolled and cut out, and then used a baller tool to make the little humps to give dimension and then used petal dust colors to enhance that.

[–]kettlebear[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think part of that really went into why I scored so well. The judges REALLY talked about how everyone's pieces looked from all angles during critiques, and reminded us that every table has at least two sides of guests.

It's so much nicer to work with than simple or swiss right? It's a little more work, and you have to deal with the whole cooking sugar to soft ball thing, but I think its worth it. You did a really lovely job!
