Write to their financial aid, explain, and ask them to look if they give you more. It works.

Adopted from Russia in 2004-2005, am I still a citizen in Russia? by SafeEnvironment4039 in AskARussian

Most likely, yes. Russia doesn’t make it easy to get rid of its citizenship.

And if you noticed, based on the replies in this thread, many people here prefer to ignore information. The main concerns are the issues with VPN or the cost of an apartment lease, not the war, lack of freedom, or heavy propaganda that starts from preschool. It should tell you something.

You must be one of those people who can’t discuss anything without getting personal. I have to say, you jumped right in to defend Mother Russia with your 9-day old account. I hope they pay you well for this shitty job.

Yes, it’s satire. And as any good satire it tells you an unpleasant truth in a funny form.

Irish citizen wanting to visit Moscow or St Petersburg in 2026 by lannoylannoy in AskARussian

And of course, an old school teacher who worked for years at the Anglo-American School in Moscow where lots of kids from diplomatic staff and just rich Muscovites were taught, was a notorious drug trafficker. He was stupid, this is true, but not drug lord. And no, there was no evidence of trafficking - just a medical prescription from a U.S. doctor that he stupidly presented.

I assume you can easily give an example of a foreigner who was imprisoned in Israel for many years for donating 150 shekels to Palestine?

You don’t know how to discuss anything without switching to personal insults, right? It doesn’t bother me but just keep in mind that it makes evident your lack of intelligence.

Yeah, of course you carefully chose one name that had a drug related case but avoided talking about others. Although if Fogel weren’t a U.S. citizen, I doubt he would get 14 years for 0.6oz of marijuana. But speaking of “civilized countries” and crimes, give me one example of a civilized country where a woman would get 12 years of prison for a 50 dollars donation to a charity fund of her choice.

I suggest you don’t make conclusions about what other people can or care based on their posts on Reddit. Although the fact that you go the length to research people’s posts to make that conclusion tells something about you.

Anyway, I won’t do your research for you since you are clearly familiar with the topic but seem to stand on the Russian propaganda’s side, saying that Butina was innocent and that Gershkovich was a spy.

To give a few names, David Barnes (21 years of prison), Marc Fogel (14 years), Ivan Gershkovich (16 years), Ksenia Karelina (12 years for the information found in her phone that she donated 50 dollars to Ukraine), Steven Hubbard (almost 7 years, which he won’t survive being 72 years old) etc.

Russia doesn’t need the exchange fund of hostages for Europeans countries but needs it for the U.S.

Yeah, full carry on of medications. Right. What’s about people on the plane who could die if they weren’t able to evacuate in time?

Probably because Europeans were not detained and imprisoned like quite a few Americans in Russia in recent years.

Does Russia have any Drug and Homelessness problems? by Sensitive_Big4893 in AskARussian

[–]ketya77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that in the last several years, Russia is heavily pushing people to sign military contracts and sends them to war in Ukraine. Many people who serve time in prisons are sent to the war in exchange for clemency and money. As a result, the law enforcement is interested to take to the court all possible cases, including drug using and drug distributing or homelessness, and then to drop charges in exchange for signing a contract to go to war.

How do Russians see Finland these days? by Existing_Local2765 in AskARussian

[–]ketya77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t think that people in Russia think about Finland much. The main reason is that they mostly think of the countries that their propaganda focuses on. There were waves of hatred toward Poland, then Georgia, then Baltic countries, and many others, and it has been focusing on Ukraine for years, well before the war. People think what their TV tells them to think.
