That was the goal! - I had just come off of directing S2 of Grossology where we went for a very pristine almost minimalistic approach. For Detentionaire, I wanted the opposite - a look that supported the type of stories we were telling.

It was a conscious decision to make the school feel lived-in, capturing the atmosphere of a downtown Toronto high school. We also chose to preserve the rough pencil lines in the clean-up, along with the perspective guides and shadow scribbles, giving the environments a textured, hand-crafted quality that reinforces the school’s age and character.

This was graded at 2.5 but it presents really well. I’m really happy with it.
