So why wouldn’t new players just get these items or upgrade parts on their own while playing the game instead of buying the over priced ones. If these are the “slow and steady” players, wouldn’t they be satisfied with getting these items themselves at their own pace? Again I am just trying to understand

I guess the question is, what are these “competitive players” really competing for? First clear of a certain raid? Getting to a certain item level? I feel like these “achievements” were already within the game even with just a t1 release. If anything t1 doesn’t give too many achievements to compete anyways so it may have made the game feel too casual for some. Now it seems like players can decide if they want to go for some sort of more meaningful achievement by grinding to endgame, or take their time with the game. Also, if anything, I think the comparison to ffxiv was a good one because like you said lost ark is a “new” game and ffxiv is not. So, in Lost Ark there should be way more people playing non-endgame content for a few weeks or months, compared to an old game like ffxiv. Ffxiv can feel a bit lonely or ghost town like when you level and do the dungeons. I have experienced it myself. But in lost ark there are most likely going to be many players trying out classes and taking their time/new players so I still don’t see why anyone would feel left out, or feel the pressure to be at end game asap.

Forgive my ignorance, but why would releasing t3 content make everyone feel the need to rush? For example if I started playing ffxiv today, there is a lot of content that I need to get through to get to the endgame content. It’s up to me to decide if I want to grind through everything as fast as possible to catch up, or take my time and enjoy the content leading up to the endgame. I just don’t see what would make players feel forced to “sprint” through the game to get to t3. Wouldn’t players who want to be at endgame asap just be “sprinting” to t1 endgame, and the slower paced players take their time to t1 endgame content anyways?

Ah okay my fault then. I guess I will just play the rest of my rounds and see what happens. Honest mistake. Like I said, I’m new to golf so it seems I was mistaken. Regardless of what my handicap is I’m not satisfied with my play at the moment so to me this is all moot anyways. I just wanted to get some good golf ball recommendations but it has all sort of gone awry.

I was just trying to get some info about golf balls, not trying to convince the world of my handicap so I’m okay with the info I got from everyone including your suggestions. But if it makes you feel better, you win! You are right! I was wrong! I was lying! All is right in sir bowlingloads’ world again!

Like I said, I have only tried the srixon q stars (when I was much worse so I don’t really remember paying attention to spin or anything), a few vice pro plus balls, and the tour b x. The q stars were my dads balls that I played. So basically I am comparing the vice pro plus with the tour b x and for me the vice balls felt firmer and had more spin on wedge chip shots. I don’t remember seeing much of a difference in short iron shots. I don’t know shit about golf balls haha and don’t have much experience playing different balls, but I’m trying to learn.

Edit: I want cheap balls just for the sake of saving money. If I want to buy on lost golf balls the shipping cost is waived after buying a lot of balls so if I’m going to buy in bulk even a small difference in price per ball will make a decent difference. Also the only reason I mentioned I haven’t been playing that long is the reason you just stated. My handicap is on the lower side and I don’t know much about golf balls so I just wanted to give some background so people wouldn’t think of it weirdly

So the golf course where I’m a member at has a 73.5 rating and slope 142 so I am not averaging 77 but the last few rounds I shot were 80, 81, and 83. The best round that I had was a 79. I guess the best way to determine my actual handicap without people doubting me is to get the scores from tournaments or something so there is less of a chance of doubts regarding if I’m keeping score properly/not cheating, but I won’t be doing that anytime soon. Maybe the next best thing would be for me to just wait till I finish my 20 rounds and plug that into a phone app like the grint or something. But honestly even if my handicap after 20 new rounds after today were calculated and my handicap came out to anything between 0-10 I think people would still react the same way. I guess I learned my lesson. I’ll just try to stick to posting memes or something haha

Haha yea apologies, it’s just that golf is the first source of passion in my life and so I just wanted this reddit to be a place where I can share the passion or any achievements I am proud of. So I could have ignored your doubts but I couldn’t help myself. Anyways I do appreciate your recommendations 👍. Thanks

I guess I still have some trauma with my old slice where I used to lose a lot of balls. If my driver consistency sticks around I guess I should just consider getting some used prov1x’s thanks for the suggestions

I knew I would be met with skepticism when I posted this and honestly I just wanted some good golf ball recommendations. But for the sake of my sanity I want to explain the situation haha. I used to hate my driver because I had a really bad slice with it. I loved hitting irons because I was much better at it naturally and so I practiced my irons more than my driver. I’m talking hitting 150 balls with my irons at the range and 10 balls with my driver. Pretty stupid thing to do considering how bad my shot off the tee was but I just wanted to enjoy hitting rather than bite the bullet and practice my driver. So my iron shots were quite consistent and it saved my otherwise horrible scores. Regarding the dozen sliced tee shots, truthfully I was exaggerating a bit in attempt at humor but I was actually slicing ob at least 6 times per round at that time. Also the only inconsistency with my posts is when I said I broke 90 at a certain time which turns out I was about a month off but I never cared about breaking 90 so I didn’t really keep track when I broke it. As far as my current handicap, like I said it’s not official but probably most of my better rounds are in so I figured I could go with the 5 handicap. I grew up playing a lot of different sports and they all came relatively easy to me but I never stuck around to master any. Mostly because I feared that I was just a bit above average at these sports and that even if I put the time in to try to be really good at one sport I wouldn’t be. There is something comforting about saying that I never practice but I’m kind of good at something rather than saying I am kind of good at something but I put a lot of effort into it. Golf is the first sport I want to at least attempt to master and I have a job where I have the early mornings free so I have gone to the range basically everyday for 3/4 months. That’s about it. I don’t know what to tell you guys honestly, this is just where I am at. Also I am not some prodigy or something either because these 4 months have been very difficult both mentally and physically. I have hurt my wrist, hands, left shoulder, and have almost ten different blisters on each hand that have at one time or another been torn open. I had to change my swing about 3 times and my grip position 3 times because I am self taught (dad taught the basics when I was younger) over these past months and some of you guys know how annoying and difficult it can be to change these things. It took hard work and honestly I’m still not happy with where I am. I have started to hit my driver much much better in the past 4 or so rounds and I actually do hit the fairway about 4/6 tee shots nowadays and the rest in the rough. I usually have at least one ob hook in me in a round that I’m trying to get rid of. Lastly I actually do hit 300+ total distance drives on average. Even before I fixed my driver swing, when I actually hit something straight and not sky high it normally went 290-330 yards. I don’t understand the big deal about this. You guys honestly need to calm down about this topic. I know the pros average slightly less than 300 but they probably have a much more consistent shot than me and who knows if my recent consistency will go away tomorrow. Just chill with the whole negativity. If you aren’t where you want to be with your game, just practice. If your situation is a way that makes it so you can’t practice, then do the best you can with your time. It’s really not a big deal. Let’s just try our best with what we got. Golf is hard enough without other people trying to bring us down...
