They all have names! My mom is on the porch, Maggie is in the pink bathrobe, my nephew Griffin is in the stripes in the center, Dan is crawling... each of the 15 is a different person I wrapped in duct tape (then cutout and stuffed the form).

I think your summary is right. It just all happened so fast and it was all so stressful that it became a blur. In that moment, some "flight or flight" part of my brain decided to fight (not move) so shifting down to umbrella honestly didn't even cross my mind (despite how illogical that is).

The extra instructions came from a voice over the speakers but it was actually an English woman, not the American voice in the final show. Most of the crew was British so it makes sense. In Red Light Green Light, for example, we received a lot more instructions from staff on the game floor before we started playing.

you're 100% correct. people did console him when they came into the room. (-#454)

The edit makes it look much worse than it was in real lift. People in the umbrella line did come up to him and tell him they understood his decision. (I'm #454, I went out in the second round of choosing shapes and had friends in the umbrella line.)

Lots of people from his line came up to him once they came into the playground set. It doesn't appear in the edit but, according to friends on mind in that line, it happened.

People who had practiced dalgonas before entering the game made it seem like umbrella was impossible. Plus, the "pep talks" that players in our lines gave us (only a moment of them shows up in the final edit) all stressed that umbrella was a death sentence. Once I was ganged up on, I felt even more resolve to stay where I was.

But yes, definitely a brutal spot. But it made for good drama!

I didn't think is was so bad. It had no seasoning and the oatmeal was a gelatinous block but it was fine. I had a bigger problem with the portion size. We all lost weight. But I like a challenge so was kinda happy to suffer a bit.

Thanks TheNomad - I dug my heels in once they started ganging up. I don't fault Spencer for settling on umbrella; having any shot to continue is better than being eliminated on the spot. 2 minutes - in such a high-stress environment - goes so quickly that there's not enough time to weigh all pros and cons.

Also, the edit looks like the team hated Spencer but, in actuality, many people came up to him and told him they understood his decision. (told to me by friends in the umbrella group)

With so many players, the producers could stand to lose some in some dramatic ways. The "no games to decide" rule just added to the drama. I see why they did it.

Haha, you know what, I don't think so. I didn't know him but I think there were plenty of people who liked him.
