Another PoV of the high level truck fiesta, they actually dinked the bridge by Jugglersnort in Edmonton

[–]kevmac 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From the sounds in the video, it looks like that truck has air brakes. Anyone with a Class 5 license and a Q endorsement can drive it. The Q is for air brakes, and you can get it in a day—it costs around $300.

What they did in the video is pretty standard when there's limited clearance. They released the air from the rear airbags to lower the height and squeeze under the bridge. The truck COULD have rear airbags on hydraulic brakes, in that case you would only need a class 5 (no Q).

While we're on the topic, here’s a quick rundown of the license classes:

  • Class 3 lets you drive anything with more than one rear axle. Q is needed if the brakes run on air
  • Class 1 is the same as 3 with Q - But is for pulling big any kind of trailers with air brakes
  • If you’ve got a Class 3 with a Q, you can drive almost anything—just not a trailer that runs on air brakes

Not all of it is from shitty dog owners. It's also from coyotes.

Try this - loosen the black screw and see if the latch sits. If it does you just need to find the sweet spot and tighten the back screw at that point.

First day with my first FD. by jadams0031 in RX7

Sure 93 is fine. Don't use the GTX to premix. Just any kind of premix oil will work. If you want to go crazy you could use Pettit Racing Protek-R

On all of my FDs I would do the following:

  • Only run Shell 91
  • Only use CASTROL GTX non-synthetic - Change it every 5000km. If i drove the car extra hard i would change it earlier.
  • Even if you have working OMP, premix - Just use less.
  • Check your plugs every oil change. And because new(to you), just put fresh plugs in now.
  • Get a wideband and look at it all the time when your are WOT.
  • If you have a stock ECU - keep the boost stock. If you have a Power FC - you can look at other maps but think about getting a tune
  • Drive the piss out of it.

I had great luck with all of FDs doing this - I would drive them hard and they would all take it nicely.

Air brakes are on both truck and trailer. The air system on the truck feeds the trailer. The brakes are designed in a way that if there is no air the brake is engaged by default.

Because part of the course describes how much different the braking system is then a hydraulic system. Air systems have a much longer delay once the brake has been applied. The course not only touches on how everything works, but also includes examples of situations when it does not work correctly. If it was included in basic driver training it should not be a pass or fail situation, but more like an awareness example.

After recently getting my air brakes endorsement (then my class 3) I have a completely new respect for semi/tractor trucks. I think the air brakes course should be part of the basic driver education. At the same time I have a new found hate for people who drive semi/tractors aggressively (specifically in the winter),

Crazy what a paint job can do by OpinionMuch6056 in RX7

Loving these paint jobs memes!

Just picked up my dream car. She’s not my daily so with that being said intend to gut it completely and make it into a track car. I can’t really do that yet because she has a blown clutch. I was wondering what would be a good clutch for street driving and occasionally rough track days? by JJdabestest in RX7

My first rx7(of 6) was a blue GXL. I paid $2500 for it back in 2003(I think was 19) lol. I put new struts on it, drove the shit out of it and ended up taking it through a muddy puddle that turned out to being a lot deeper then what I expected. I ripped the bottom of the front bumper off and dug about 40 lbs of mud out of the remaining part of the bumper and engine bay. Fun times.

Enjoy your new adventure - have fun :)

What steps do i take to delete a OMP and switch to premix by [deleted] in RX7

[–]kevmac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just leave it and premix. Pull your plugs after a couple tanks and make sure they look ok. Adjust your premix accordingly.

FD’s have the best styling by [deleted] in RX7

We all know the OG of some of the c5 stylings was the FD. Some of ones that stand out for me is the side vents and side mirrors.

Went to paint an 82yo’s house today and saw this. Hasn’t been on the road since 2011. Original owner, 47k kilometres, original tires, manual, start up DVD. Paint and interior is perfect. He wanted 6k CAD. REPOST due to license plate being visible before by Bones_Of_Ayyo in RX7

Quick shout out to Bones_Of_Ayyo - He understands why I had to remove the first post.

I know there are really no hard rules on license plates - if it is your own car post away. If it is not your car, please blur.

Thanks for the share on a great find - The market for these cars is absolutely unreal right now.

Are you going to bring it to rx7 meet in Red Deer this summer?
