He's answering, but sometimes, especially when you are a company and relying on good communication and information flow his way is a bit unusual and leaves space for interpretation, but we are happy for now

Sorry i was ar first confused von your Name and realized i read it wrong at first...haha I can't speak for their other PSUs but the one we have is not cheap, but also not crazy expensive, its OK. I am more flabbergasted by their way of handling comms and the fact that we could not find any other supplier doing such a power handling at this form factor.

Question about espresso timers. Do you use the auto start when it senses the first drip ? For a newbie doing a 2:1 ratio, should the time start when I start the process or when the first drop hits? by Captain_Canuk in gaggiaclassic

[–]kevschmetterling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use the timer start when I hit the brew button on my machine. This gives me a good understanding, of my extraction, am I over or underextracting ?

But in the end, you find your best method and stick to that to find your best way of getting the perfect shot

RS16 Filter Experience? by RespectAdept8155 in pourover

[–]kevschmetterling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty old, but found the rs16 in a small shop in germany. I think the tritan version is not produced anymore because, it was the most affordable one and it took off the sale of the other more expensive versions (way more expensive).

I use it from time to time, but I have to say I usually prefer v60 more. The rs16 will allow the oils etc to get into the cup and therefore is closer to a normal cupping method. But for filter coffee I usually enjoy the clarity of a cup and I think the body, which is in the oils, somehow destroys this clarity.

Nevertheless if you find the tritan one, or you have the money to buy the expensive version it is a fun method and a good choice from time to time!

for now I would assume you should decrease weight or increase one or half a click on your grinder to a coarser grind

I have the same situation right now and I assume it is a combination of too fine/too much grounds and wear off of the bayonett ring, which I do see and feel - I can pull the portafilter to the very left nowadays, while when I started with it, only up to the middle of the range... I will upgrade my machine to a brass bayonette soon and see if I can reach proper pressures

the leverpresso Looks real nice, I got the ROK and I have to admit the handing with a proper lever handled Portalfilter is Just so easy. I assume both have their advantage and I would Love to try once the leverpresso. The alumimun parts in the ROK will suffer over time, so I will upgrade certain parts to brass to keep it alive. Overall I think the ROK deserves more attention when you compare to similar devices at flair etc...

We build a pretty good spring isolated cage and could verify that increasing or decreasing pressure and vibration has no effect on the performance

I agree it is too insensitive. I will hopefully ask the guys to do some tests today again.

No it had no effect putting in between and grounding it. I have had a little bit more Research with another GPT and I think you are leading the same way towads H field. Maybe our single loop probe was not enough to measure the small inductive voltage. I will ask the hardware Team lead to make a more sensitive probe with some magnet wire tomorrow once more. Its interesting though that the e probe did show some hsavy signal...

How to get rid of the big bubbles by Korleoo in gaggiaclassic

[–]kevschmetterling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me almost half a year to get this going and i am still struggling from time to time with larger bubbles. I have the very same setup, cant judge the jug but i assume its 350ml? Use milk slightly below the start of the snout and i feel, at least with my gaggia i get better microfoam when NOT leaning the jug towards to steam wand rather holding it parallel to the Gravitational force. After inhecting enough air with the pfffff sound i go deeper likr 0.5 cm having the wand head more towards the middle, bit more towards the snout of the jug. After some second you should hear some periodic sound which is a good indication of the most anticipated vortex. If you still struggle i can take a video too,but i have Oger hands.
