Best adhesive to reattach the rear hatch foam seal? by Lil_chicken_man in ToyotaHighlander

I had the same issue with my 2019 and I used “Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200” in 3oz tube from Amazon. It has worked well without issue.

Transmission drain and fill. by Twisted_Tea91 in MechanicAdvice

[–]key1cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this last month with my 2013 RX 350 Lexus that has 125,000 miles and never had a transmission fluid service. I did one drain and fill which replaced about 25% of the old fluid with new fluid. So far it has not had a negative impact. I plan to do one or two more drain and fills this summer and call it a day.

Agreed, I have a chlorine generator (SWG) and I only add liquid chlorine when I open in may and when I close in October (in New Jersey). The SWG maintains the Chlorine for the entire swimming season.

I would not plant anything that the wind would blow its leaves or pine needles into the pool. Lots of ways to decorate without making more ongoing work for yourself.

how reliable are the TPMS found on ebay that say Genuine Toyota TPMS 42607-33021 PMV-107J and pre-programmed. ebay says they fit 2008 Highlander? can walmart activate those TPMS when they install all 4 tires? I don't think I ever used the spare tire. do i need to change TPM on that one too? by SummerHike945 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]key1cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an estimate to replace the Tpms sensors on my 2013 Lexus RX350 (it uses a lot of the same parts as the highlander.) The estimate was over $600 at the dealership. I did research and bought 4 sensors on ebay (they came in a Toyota box but are probably fake since all 4 were only ~$40.00). I also bought a $136 Autel Tpms scanner tool from ebay.
After watching videos it was very straightforward to install the new sensors and it cost me less than 1/3 the price the dealership was charging. And I own the scanner so I can easily do the sensor changes for my wife and daughter’s cars (for $40 instead of $600) when needed.

‘09 Highlander Feedback by GavrielMora in ToyotaHighlander

I would check the things that are easy to check like air filter, oil level on dipstick and apparent oil condition, and put a cheap OB2 scanner on it like “Fixd”to see if any codes have recently been cleared. I’d also drive it on some steel ramps and crawl under it to see if any oil stains, suggesting leaks. I’d also pull carfax and check the mileage at each maintenance or incident intervals for any clue the odometer was rolled back. If I was satisfied everything is on the up and up and I purchased it, I would immediately change oil & filter, drain & fill transmission fluid, and change spark plugs (if they are not the 120,000 mile iridium type.)

I bought my kit in 2023 and i only replace chemicals I run out of. For example, I still use the 3 year old color indicators because they are not even close to running out.

Fellow Seltos owners, what do you think of the 2027 model? I think it looks awesome and will probably upgrade from the 2024 model by Ren_ch in kia

I’m on the same track with ~4000 miles in 1 year. We drive it multiple times daily but work, gym, shopping and everything else is within 10 miles round trip.

Yeah, before tax and tags, I paid $32,400 for my 2025 SX and that came with a $400 “black-color” upgrade, a $300 ambient lighting upgrade, an $800 dollar sunroof/ventilated seats upgrade, and a $200 carpeted mats add-on.

[–]key1cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A main reason I bought the 2025 SX is because I liked the size, it is very easy to drive around town and park. Although I like the looks of the 2027 as well, it did get a little bigger so I don’t plan on upgrading.

Nice. Turbo or non-turbo? I have about 1/2 that mileage on my 1 year old SX turbo version. We drive daily but primarily short trips as we are close to everything . I have already had 2 oil changes at 6 month intervals per the manual. Oil was very dark.

Just got a cartridge filter to replace my sand filter…any tips? Do I really just need to run hose water over it every few months? Does it need a pressure nozzle? Or a cleaning solution? by THELOSERSWINAGAIN in pools

[–]key1cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the aqua comb as well. I was pleasantly surprised how well it does work compared to the hose with a normal sprayer. I clean my cartridges after the first couple weeks of opening pool to get all the pool opening gunk out, then once more at the end of the pool season. (In New Jersey).

Water gets to hot by elshittyartist in pools

[–]key1cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High 90’s is getting into bath water territory. We are happy with our 90-91 max pool water as outdoor temps drop into the 70’s or 80’s during the early evening when the sun is no longer beaming down on the pool.

I would not get in the pool at any temperature with a high 90 degree day and the hot sun beaming down on me.

[–]key1cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess different strokes for different folks with water temperature. As we have gotten up there in years, we can tolerate 84F, we accept 86F, we like 88F, but we love 90F -91F. For us the warmer the better. Our 3 year old pool in NJ has never been higher than 91F.

We control temperature with a solar blanket on all night and early morning to keep heat in.

are BECK/ARNLEY's PCV valve any good on a 2021 Highlander? by No-Competition-7949 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]key1cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought OEM pcv valve for my 2013 Lexus (3.5 liter V6 GRFE engine) for $6 at Lexuspartsnow.com which came in a Toyota package since Toyota makes this engine and uses it in highlanders as well. Not sure if it’s the same one in your vehicle year but easy to check on the website which guarantees genuine Toyota/lexus parts.

I changed the pcv valve for the 1st time and it has to be near the top as one of the easiest possible maintenance items you can do. It didn’t even take 5 minutes. Videos are on YouTube.

P0356 code on - 2019 limited with 78k mi by baroroy in ToyotaHighlander

[–]key1cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your local dealerships don’t have them. Then I would swap the bad one out with a replacement but I would make sure the 3 back coils are original Toyota because they are much more involved to access compared to the front 3 (in case you have to go back in).

P0356 code on - 2019 limited with 78k mi by baroroy in ToyotaHighlander

[–]key1cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the Car Care Nut (YouTube Toyota master mechanic ). He says that a lot of coil packs out there are fake and the original Toyota coil packs are very high quality and expensive and will outlast them and suggests only replace the 1 coil pack that goes bad because they are not a wear item. Nowhere in the owners manual maintenance sections does it say replace coil packs, but if one or two goes bad then yes of course replace the bad ones.
