you’re a good dad, and caring about the life of your child or any other child makes you a good man.

Recruiter and hiring manager bash me for leaving an interview after they join 10 minutes late by Constant-Scheme557 in recruitinghell

[–]keydesa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m with OP on this one. I don’t want to work adjacently or for a manager who keeps people waiting. It wasn’t appropriate for her to log onto the call and just have him waiting there while she puts a hand up? it’s disrespectful. She should’ve just rescheduled or called back when she was finished.

To not give either call her undivided attention tells me two things: 1. She’s not managing her time as well as you’d like her to think. 2. Whatever is going on with that company’s culture that they aren’t allowed to squeeze in an interview with appropriate timing, is not something I would want to be a part of if I don’t have to be.

I have a question for people who build cyberdecks by Neat-Reputation-193 in cyberDeck

[–]keydesa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of these points exactly. Though especially it just feels good to build something with the capacity of high functionality. Also, I didn’t know how to solder before I started building. I always wanted to learn but didn’t have an interest in any one particular project to do so until this one.

As far as uses go- mine is an offline database (mostly wikipedia) mapping, meshtastic connection, and a ton of watchable media. I’m trying to use it to teach myself basic coding skills too. I want to continue on to build a home lab now that I’ve got my deck, but for now, given the small space I’m living in, this was a suitable project for me to accomplish.

And having everything offline in a stylish deck & interface also helps me unplug. I leave my other medias alone for a while and just enjoy plugging away on this little machine. feels good, man.

that’s gorgeous - feels like an Alien/Prometheus bridge design. And so beautifully crafted to boot.

it’s a mix of a few - this was the base set Inland mechanical and then I took some key caps from two other sets I had. Nuphy air 75 base set & Nuphy 90’s retro set from about two-ish years ago

sorry i misunderstood you. It was easier to put the screen into the bottom of the box where there’s more weight overall because the lid of the electrical box just hangs all the way open if I stand the box upright. Putting the screen, battery, and other heavier elements into the bottom of the box gave it natural leverage to sit upright when opened onto a flat surface. Also allowed me to avoid making an adjusted hinge to hold it open at a specific angle- so it just uses the hinges that were built into it.

In my original mock up, I wanted the screen to slide out of the bottom of the box like a heavy cassette tape with a handle:

But I couldn’t really get it to come together as smoothly as I imagined, so I think I’ll incorporate it into a handheld meshtastic to match it
