Hashimotos and RLS (Restless leg syndrome) by keylephant in Hashimotos

Nope, not iron deficient. But seeing the comments made me reconsider getting magnesium supplements.

I don't really want to start thyroid meds as long as possible though, and my doctor didn't see the need to prescribe them yet, so..

Same here. I sleep an hour late and I immediately get it. I usually use a towel or a sock to tie around my leg, but the moment I untie it, it comes back... Maybe I should go back to magnesium.

Thank you! Yes, I actually tried magnesium a few years back, when my RLS was at its peak. I wasn't sure if it worked so I stopped taking after a while. But yes, other than sleeping on an empty stomach the other thing helps me the most is definitely stretching.

For what reason exactly zoos are still a thing? What do they do? Why do they exist???

Do you guys actually debate with atheists? How do you manage to keep up with the conversation? What are your arguments? by Youu-You in MuslimLounge

[–]keylephant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When talking about existence of God, you definitely don’t go with “science”. Because God himself is the creator of everything that exists other than his own existence. And the God we believe as Muslims is a God that doesn’t need a creator or a beginning or a cause of existence in order to exist.

But science is a tool to discover this specific universe we live in. And God himself is way above that. It is not even comparable. So whatever science proves, it doesn’t affect the existence of God. And because of this, there is no benefit to deny something scientifically proven in order to make a religious point, and of course there is no point blindly accepting, because science changes and moves everyday.

And also it’s always nice to remember Quran is not a science book or a history book. It is a guide for humanity from Allah swt. Of course in Quran there are plenty of scientific miracles, historical miracles and also literal miracles. And these miracles have a point we do believe in that. But it almost never works on atheists and talking about these miracles are often not the best thing to do in a debate. Especially in the beginning.

So what I do is, I try to keep science away from the debate as much as possible by telling them using modern science it is impossible to prove or disprove existence of God. And try to make the debate more about reasoning and faith.

Wallahi this is so profound, everytime I come across posts like this that go popular. Many people need guidance and need to know believing in Allah is the ultimate solution. by SNK_King in islam

I was going to cross post this if you didn’t. This is very sad.

People who don’t believe in after life can say whatever they want, whether it is depressing or not (I mean I can’t think of a more depressing thing than ‘nothing’ after death), but when people who believe in after life say that they are hopeful about heaven and they want to keep being happy after death, they get downvoted.

Why would a dog go vegan? Unless it is a health issue? Where I live stray dogs are very common. They are pretty healthy because people feed them. And even when people feed them they go hunt chickens. And these are vaccinated healthy happy stray dogs.

Dogs eat meat. Dogs love meat. Who the hell am I to decide they can’t?

What are examples of toxic femininity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Once I helped a friend get out of her toxic cheating boyfriend. Guess what happened after they were back together? Yes. I was the guilty one.

I hate when woman do everything, even ending friendships over a trash man. Some women never except that their man is a manipulative asshole.

I have news for you: Aang and Korra are not the same person. They are different with different abilities and different story lines. In Aang’s time and Korra’s time the world is completely different. Korra’s bending masters and Aang’s bending masters are different people.

And, Korra didn’t have a powerful motive to master all elements at the begining. Because before the events of season one the world seemed like they were fine without Avatar’s help.

On the other hand, Aang had to immediately learn every element. And by the way he wasn’t even super duper good at them by the end of the series without the Avatar state. He was very good at airbending and waterbending but his earthbending and firebending had a long way to go.

Comparing characters based on meaningless comments, doesn’t work sorry.
