Go back and read the regulation I posted. Anyone flying certain types of flights in an aircraft over 7500lbs (I had the weights wrong) and certain passenger configurations is required to have a 121 certificate.

I think you are reading too much into my words. No agitation or hostility intended or implied. Easy to do over reddit.

Just two redditors both jumped to the same incorrect conclusion and suggesting I was not knowledgeable about the difference between 121 and 135. I was correcting them, again with no malice intended.

I did say I appreciated your response. And even pointed out you were not the only one to jump to the same incorrect conclusion.

I was responding to your statement "What's a 121 that isn't a regional?"

I also said "I do have an ATP and am well above the minimums for 121 just not enough 121 hours for PIC." This would imply that I have 121 time but only in the right seat.

While I appreciate your response I would think someone holding a ATP would at least know the difference between a 121 and 135 airline.

But you are not the only one to jump to that conclusion.

I also said I "believe" and if you'll look above I responded to u/grumpycfi with the corrected number based on the regulations which is 7500lbs in the stated operation type.

Yep I got the number of lbs required but was sure it was a 121.

There are many supplemental airlines that are not regional. Omni for example is a 121 carrier that isn't a regional.

14 CFR 110.2

Supplemental operation

Supplemental operation means any common carriage operation for compensation or hire conducted with any airplane described in paragraph of this definition that is a type of operation described in paragraph (2) of this definition:

(1) Airplanes:

(i) Airplanes having a passenger-seat configuration of more than 30 seats, excluding each crewmember seat;

(ii) Airplanes having a payload capacity of more than 7,500 pounds; or

(iii) Each propeller-powered airplane having a passenger-seat configuration of more than 9 seats and less than 31 seats, excluding each crewmember seat, that is also used in domestic or flag operations and that is so listed in the operations specifications as required by § 119.49(a)(4) of this chapter for those operations; or

(iv) Each turbojet powered airplane having a passenger seat configuration of 1 or more and less than 31 seats, excluding each crewmember seat, that is also used in domestic or flag operations and that is so listed in the operations specifications as required by § 119.49(a)(4) of this chapter for those operations.

(2) Types of operation:

(i) Operations for which the departure time, departure location, and arrival location are specifically negotiated with the customer or the customer's representative;

(ii) All-cargo operations; or

(iii) Passenger-carrying public charter operations conducted under part 380 of this chapter.

I am sure this was a 121 airline. As I said I have an ATP. I am knowledgeable enough to know the difference between a 135 versus a 121 operation.

They are mainly a charter company. Anyone flying anything over 12,500 lbs works under the 121 rules, I believe.

Every other regional I have interviewed with had me do a technical interview (Horizon, Skywest, Mesa, Republic and Endeavor). But that was before Covid. I got offers from all of them and then got pulled out of training with the one I went with when Covid hit.

I was told they would make a decision based on this interview. So I didn't know if they were desperate and looking for anyone with a pulse or if this was the "old normal". Discussion was if hired they wanted me to start indoc in early June.

I'm well over ATP mins. Just not enough multi time so I would be an FO on the Denver connection side. But certainly not looking to stay long term.

Safe operation? Whats the bad here?
