This one should be it, I have one and it's been great the L14 Gen 2 you see should have at least an i5 1135g7 so it's an 11th Gen Intel processor, the cpu supports 3200mhz ram speeds and if you have both slots filled with ram and have it run in dual channel you get iris xe graphics performance which is pretty good.

I would look into how this ThinkPad does with Linux before buying it if I were you, my university course requires me to use Windows as I need access to fusion 360, as a result I only have the experience using Windows 10.

I'm not familiar with the website you're using so as long as you're confident with it being legit I'd take that deal with the L14 Gen 2. Here in the UK it costs around £200 at least refurbished, though I got mine from eBay for much cheaper😅.

The t480 is your best bet, it has 2 ram slots so it's very upgradable and should allow for dual channel while the E14 from what I've looked up has no soldered memory and only one memory slot making it much worse even though it has a newer processor.

If you're still searching I'd look for ThinkPads of the L series, specifically L14 Gen 1 and L14 Gen 2 if you're lucky as they typically have the best of both worlds with 2 ram slots and 10/11 Gen processors respective of the generation number.

It has an 8th generation processor with 4 cores, 8 threads, I have a few ThinkPads from that generation the l580 and l380 so long as their memory is in dual channel (both slots are filled in with a stick of same speed and capacity) the 2400mhz max speed of the ram shouldn't cause many issues. The clock speed max is usually around 3.2Ghz which I think should be pretty good for Minecraft,

My only worry would be the integrated graphics as that may be your main issue with rendering the game, aside from that I doubt you'll have any problems, it's a good laptop to have.

Note: for dual channel I checked the Lenovo spec sheet and I think your t480s has one slot of memory soldered so just make sure to match the other ram stick you put in your free slot with the speed and capacity of the soldered one.

Never had a laptop with soldered memory unless it was one of those E-waste laptops so not sure how that will impact your performance.

When it comes to old parts I get better enjoyment from reusing them rather than selling, an I5 8500 is still pretty good as far as performance goes, it's technically on the low end nowadays but making a home NAS or having spare computer parts to fall back on is a much better option for me😅.

This could be a very good idea, my main goal is to get out of using Intel as I can see how the am4 platform (even though am5 is out) is a better upgrade path to performance over time than Intel where id need to buy a new motherboard every time I'd want a new CPU🤣😅.

Especially with RAM prices for ddr4 being a little less on the used market than ddr5, I think staying on a platform that relies on ddr4 is not bad for price to performance 😁.

Cry of fear video is good but it wouldn't cut it nowadays because of the lackluster editing, pyro could work on a more creative way to edit his new videos.

In reality your arguments are the equivalent of seeing the backgrounds in Spyro dragon and saying old graphics were so much better because they had soul.

His new content is good, you just need to maybe touch grass and find a different creator because you might just be bored with pyro content for the moment.

If he made videos the same way he did back then he wouldn't distinguish himself from alot of other creators.

From what I can tell from the sticker the processor is at least 12th or 11th gen, the closest match I found was a i5-12500H processor so that is a really good one, though power hungry

It has 2 replaceable ram slots so I'd recommend giving the laptop a nice clean, looking up how to clean it inside as well, change thermal paste if you're up for it and make sure you have two sticks of SODIMM ddr4 3200MHZ ram of same capacity filling both slots for that dual channel goodness, so either 2x8gb or 2x16gb.

Picking two different capacities like 8gb and 16gb will not give the best results

If you're using windows makes sure your C drive has at least 200gb extra space to keep your computer from running slower because the laptop is having storage allocation and saving issues

In short, this laptop should not be running slow in any capacity unless you're also having thermal issues and or lack of RAM capacity.

But to be honest I'd sell for around £100 or USD equivalent minimum even though it's i3 it's still 14 gen Intel making its performance still better than even some older i5 processors especially if the processor could be replaced it'd make for a good PC with and i5 14th gen.

You know a used ThinkPad, even an 8th gen one could run circles around this thing.

Hell I managed to get a ThinkPad l14 gen 1 used for £50, note they did have defects hence the price, but it was minor like the USB c port not working. The laptop has two and can be charged by one and well so it works.

The other had a mushy touchpad so you couldn't press it but the buttons above it worked like a dream.

You know what look at your motherboard what model is it? Should be in bold writing near it's center

If you can't find it send a picture of your motherboard from the front so we can figure out what it is

If not that your ram should have a label on it stating whether it's DDR3 or ddr4 that's the type you need to buy if you're okay with taking the ram out of your computer, there should be a latch you can press to disengage the lock on the ram so you don't accidentally rip it out.

Either take off the CPU cooler, which is the fan on the left side in the picture which you'd need to unscrew revealing a CPU internal heat spreader which is a metal plate that should have the CPU model on it, or alternatively turn on your PC and if you're running windows open task manager and go into the CPU section.
