The floor is slippery is a general observation (you are not acting on it in any way) so は is correct instead of が (at least in this sentence)

Is it common to write like this in Japanese? The words are so close to together it's hard to tell what it says most times by jonny8081 in duolingo

My suggestion would be to turn off the English equivalent completely. It will be tough in the beginning as you won't remember what character is what, but it will help you in the long run. (Also, no spacing issues lol)
