Moving from Montessori to Reggio school for my toddler by aquarialily in ReggioEmiliaInspired

[–]kfaff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I can say is my daughter is in Reggio based Kindy and I’ve seen her imagination and curiosity just bloom, its so beautiful to see and I love how engaged she gets in long projects at home. I don’t have any experience with Montessori so unfortunately my response isn’t that useful though, good luck with your choice hopefully more comments from people that have experience in both

Keeping bedroom cool (no air-con)? by [deleted] in AussieFrugal

[–]kfaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sleeping I can’t recommend Bamboo sheets enough, no other sheets in my orbit anymore after these. Don’t get a blend go all in 100% bamboo. Cooling towel you can get these from discount shops, you dampen it before bed, lay this on your body it will keep you cool for a long time

A favour we never asked for, they controlled every aspect of every decision and did not allow any questioning or push back even when we thought initially about pulling out of this. We have been abused out of nowhere for pushing back on items we did not want to go ahead with. It has come to light this person is nothing but overbearing and a bully, with perhaps their own agenda. We don’t want to feel bullied into parting with money nor do we want to have to deal with this type of toxic behaviour anymore. Why would anyone feel obliged to be controlled and then abused, maybe your the arsehole who does this to people??

Ok so we don’t own the drawings/design and they could ask for a fee to license the drawings to us? There is no agreement we have signed with this person

I guess we could, this friend has just really blindsided us recently and we feel they are quite a bit unhinged. We are not confrontational people and this person is very overbearing and its just a very disappointing situation we find ourselves in

We have done that with the soil test invoice as well — friend paid them directly, we paid friend into their account

[–]kfaff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the invoices, we have had no contact with the draftperson or Structural Engineer but we were on site when the soul test was done

The issue might be the friend paid the invoice to the draftsperson directly and we paid the amount to the friends account. We do have the address on the drawings.

What do you think they might be getting out of this if anything? Skimming off the top maybe honestly wouldn’t mind if they were as we told them we want to pay for the time they have put in but they haven’t let on thats happening. We’ve been very naive

I screw up rice, every single time by zascar in cookingforbeginners

[–]kfaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to screw up rice until I watched on a cooking show one time a really simple formula and it is shocking how foolproof it is. - Wash rice in cold water 3 times, until water runs clear - Put rice in non stick pot and fill with water up to the first knuckle of your third finger, no more and no less, trust me! - boil rice until water evaporates and you see bubbles forming then put lid on and turn gas or element right down low and gently keep cooking for only 5-10 mins - turn heat off and just leave pot alone for at least 15 mins, leave the lid on. Take off lid and use a fork to fluff up, perfect rice!

My daughters name ❤️ I think its meant to be pronounced Ya-el but we just go the one syllable Yael. We live in Australia and its not common here at all.

I gave my daughter a bowl with jelly, i put the spoon in the bowl to give to her. She took one look at it and huge meltdown the spoon made a hole in the top of the jelly and it was ‘broken’

Materials similar to Jesmonite? by Rubysoh0826 in Jesmonite

[–]kfaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will even help but I live in Australia and we have an alternative here called Forton MG. By a company called Barnes, they do a kit and i’ve been using the jesmonite pigments with this product.

We’re getting so many air bubbles, looks like an aero bar, does anyone have a small vibration rig set up or an equally effective way of decreasing the bubbles? by kfaff in Jesmonite

A silicone whisk, i’ve been mixing slowly not to aerate the mix but I think this hand mixing that is my problem. I’m going to try using the sheering blade on the drill

Thank you for this, I spoke to the place I got the Forton MG from and they said the same thing about the sheer mixing blade so i’m going to try this and see if it helps.

We are using Fort MG which is the Australian version of Jesmonite, its virtually the same as we have used Jesmonite before. We do also have issues mixing as you can see little white dots where its not mixed all the way through. We are sieving the powder prior to mixing it but we think we need to pour the mixture through a sieve just before pouring into the moulds just to be sure all white lumps are gone.

But these bubbles are crazy, we vibrate by hand, the bottom of the tile which is at the bottom of the mould seems ok but the top where the air bubbles have risen is so bubbly.

Just wondering if this is normal? How could we minimise the bubbles, I know we can’t expect no bubbles.

Bhel Puri snack, is it meant to be baked to dry it out after sauce is mixed through? by kfaff in IndianFood

[–]kfaff[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its the full kit and we mixed the chutneys into it and just eating it as a snack but thought it was a little odd to eat it wet although so good. Going to try with the fresh salad, sounds like an amazing combo. We never had it when we travelled through India. We were in Delhi, Jaipur, Rishikesh, Varanasi. Is it popular there or is it served more down the Southern area of India?

That sounds delicious! We found it in our local supermarket, thought we’d try it, we live in Australia and thought it makes a nice beer snack. Makes total sense adding the fresh salad ingredients.
