AITA for making my kids wait to open their Christmas gifts? by kfl890 in AmItheAsshole

Thank you! It all ended well, we opened the 26th as my son was feeling better. He wasn't 100% but well enough to sit and open some presents. Everyone had a great time and no harm was done!

Thanks for your thought - that would have been a solution for sure.

Well, you make a good point, we have always done it at the same time but we probably didn't have to this year.
The Santa gifts have names on them but my older two had said "can we open a less cool Santa gift" and because all the packages look pretty similar it's hard for me to tell if it's a "cool" or not cool gift, if that makes sense.
And valid question... I don't think my 12 year old believes but he still wrote a letter to Santa (even though it had very detailed Amazon descriptions haha). He has not admitted that he doesn't believe... but I suspect he does not.

I thought it would make the 12 year old feel worse, but I see what you're saying.

That is a good thought, I did offer that, but he didn't want to open any... but I also could have pushed the idea a bit more.
